Well, that was more tiring than I'd hoped expected it would be. It seems there's a way to go still. Unfortunate, given how precarious everything seems to be.

Unless that gibberish was good news? I doubt it, somehow...

What is this Hallowe'en people keep mentioning?

Halloween, my lovely roommate, is a holiday in which children dress up in costumes, knock on people's doors, and are given candy for doing so. Or, at least, that is what it's become.

That seems an odd reason for a holiday. It was something more serious once, then?

Of course it was, but that was long ago. Once it was a religious holiday, celebrated at a time when it was thought that the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead was at its weakest. And so customs were created to ward off the wicked spirits. Now it is a children's holiday.

Well. Isn't that an interesting shift in purpose?

Did they do anything to get in contact with the benevolent spirits? Or just try to chase off the wicked ones?
