The Kushiel series is gorgeous and dark.

Anything and everything by Catherynne M. Valtne - Palimpsest, The Orphan's Tales, - dying to get my hands on Habitation of the Blessed which just came out. On pins and needles waiting for The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (it was online and is WONDERFUL) and Deathless which is a re-telling of a Russian fairytale set during WW2 in Russia.
