A Heart for the Heartless

Feb 18, 2005 20:48

I just had to post this log. It's a valentine's scene with Thes and Rook.

It's a quiet afternoon for once, and quite a pleasant one at that..The afternoon sun shines brightly in the air, birds twittering about happily, and people go about their business as usual; Although there is something..Different about today, about the past few days actually as people seem to be coupling more than often, children are dancing in the streets, and there seems to be a lot of gift giving these days. Amidst the constant hustle and bustle, a lone girl in white stands on a dock, overlooking the sea. She is carrying what looks to be a pleasantly wrapped gift parcel which she is staring at intently at the moment, paying not the slightest attention to the cool spring breeze that ruffles through her long, silvery locks.

This was the time of the year that had always hit a sour spot for Horai, even more so now that he's Heartless. Depression turning into rage, rage turning into violence, violence turning into ..well, you get the picture.
A vortex just big enough for a person to fit through opens up behind Thesia, the dark knight arises from the portal in all his dark glory. He's every bit aware of what has been going on as of late, the celebrations of hope and love, it was sickening, though somewhat depressing to him, and this filled him with even more hatred.
Rook then reaches out and places a hand on Thesia's shoulder, though she's probably already aware of his presence considering the unnatural bond between them. "Thesia..."

Despite all the love and warmth going around, Thesia seems pretty down, and not even aware of Rook's presence until he reaches out and grabs her shoulder, nearly causing her to jump in surprise as she turns around to face the dark knight. "H-huh..? Rook.." she bites her lip, seeming to be blushing a bit as she looks down at the gift in her hand. "Um..I've been meaning to talk to you..There was..Something I wanted to..Umm.." she looks away then, seeming terribly embarrassed, although the package in her hand is still in plain sight.

The knight's eyes do linger as they drift down to glance at the object in her hand for just a moment before he narrows his eyes on her intently. "Something you wanted to, What?" The shadow knight might seem a bit uncomfortable, but he's always acting strangely when around her. It's unexplainable by words, but there is something there, between them that words cannot describe. It's superficial in some sort of way, it's beyond any conception. "What is it, Thesia?" He over-aggressively reaches down, placing a hand on the package, almost as if he's about to take it out of her hand, making a quick assumption that the object in her hands is for him,"Is this for me?"

Thesia sighs, still hanging her head, though she continues to clutch the package tightly in her hands. "I...Wanted to give you this. It's something I made myself, I hope you like it.." she glances back at you again slowly, letting go of the package as you reach for it although she still looks terribly embarrassed about something. Which is probably a rare sight indeed; Afterall, the arrogant, tempermental SOLDIER girl rarely ever shows this tender side of her to anyone. But then again, she always seemed to act...Differently around Horai.

"Something you made?" Rook tries not to burst out in laughter, he's more or less curious to see what it is first that she has to give him that he'd find of any importance. The knight slowly takes the package out of her grasp and then uses both hands to rip it open quickly. He digs around a little, spreading the wrapping out of the way so he can see what is inside and then with a quick pluck, he starts to pull the silverchain from the package and then eventually the little blue crystalline jewel attached comes with. The knight just stares at it a moment, blankly. He's oddly silent for quite a long moment while he just looks at the necklace.

Thesia begins to bite her nails nervously as she watches, feeling like such an idiot for getting a gift for someone who obviously doesnt feel a thing for her. "I..Put a lot of effort into making it because it had to be perfect..Perfect for you.." she reaches out then, clasping her hands over yours, though rather hesitantly at first as if she were afraid she might get backhanded for even daring to try. "You..Do you like it?" and then as she says that, her face goes about ten shades redder.

Rook just continues to stand there silently, not even making a reaction when she puts her hands over his as he just stares down at the necklace for a moment longer before looking up into Thesia's azure eyes.
The knight then suddenly takes a few steps away from her, pulling his hands free of her grasp and then he takes the necklace into his bare fist as if he were going to crush it. "Is this some kind of sick joke? What part of the word 'Heartless' do you not understand?" The knight growls lowly and shakes his head,"That girl put you up to this didn't she. She told you to... Didn't SHE?!" He sighs and shakes his head slightly. He then takes the necklace, cocking his hand back as he readies to throw it, tossing it out into the water angrily. "I don't have feelings for you, we aren't friends. You're my subordinate, and you're going to start acting like it and get these stupid ideas of trying to save me out of your head."

"Huh? But...I...." she sighs, hanging her head as a few tears form in the corners of her eyes, "But I just..Needed you to know..How I felt.." oh great, what a stupid idiot she's been, how foolish of her to think there could ever be anything between them. "But..They arent stupid ideas..Love isnt stupid! Dont you know? It's the most powerful force there is.." she steps up to the water's edge, gazing out over its crystalline surface..But alas, she sees no trace of the gift she had worked so hard to create. "Even in the darkest place, there is some light.." she murmurs, remembering Kairi's last words before she had left. "Even within your own heart, if you arent afraid to search for it..Why do you keep running away, Horai?" these last words come out louder, with more confidence as she turns to face you now, remembering again what Kairi had reminded her of.

Keep running away? Well, he's definately not running now. The knight glances down toward the dock they stand on. He just stands there for a lingering moment before glancing up at her as she boldly yells at him. He whispers softly, more or less just talking to himself but she might over hear his words,"I ... am ... " And then he stops, shaking his head. "Why are you doing this? Do you really think this will accomplish anything? There are powers at work here that are far beyond your control much less imagination. Just give it up already, Thesia. You're getting more desperate by the day. You cannot win and you know it." Definately the evil half speaking out now as he mocks her declaration of feelings. "Love, BAH! Love won't save you from death and neither can I anymore!"
The knight then reaches out, extending his arm and hand as shadows start to form around his arm spreading out along his finger tips and forming that massive weapon of his. He grins devilishly. "You won't stand in my way any longer. You're either with me, or against me. Make up your mind now..." The knight let's out an evil cackle as he narrows that murderous crimson gaze on his former companion now. "I've been holding back you know... I can kill you at any time I wish ... Now, declare your alliance... Is it with me now, or will you continue to stand in my way with these ridiculous believes of trying to save me.."

Horai..Had taught her much about love, back then..And even if he was just a kid and she was his guardian, still his very memory was what kept her going, this precious thing called hope that he had given her. Never, ever give up hope, that had been his way of life afterall..

But that was back then..Now, perhaps it may be too late, but how could she ever give up even now? She had already seen the light shining, even in Rook, even if he wouldnt admit it herself.."Horai, I..." she frowns, turning from the docks and the sea to stare down the length of your sword. Never woud she have surrendered like this in the past, but then she was never forced to fight against the very people she had tried to hard to protect. For a moment, her hand reaches for her glaive, her golden eyes narrowed in seemingly intense concentration as if she were fighting against her own better judgement and her very conscience..He was evil, he may even kill her in the end, but..

"Horai..Even if you will become heartless, I'll stay by your side..Even if I should die by your hand, I wont fight you and I wont leave you..Not ever.."

"Bah... foolish woman!" He growls lowly and hefts that weapon up over his shoulder, taking a combative stance now. "You won't fight me? Then you shall die!" The knight then swiftly swings the sword forth, even thoguh he's not close enough to her, but perhaps he isn't attacking her directly. Rook's weapon glows with a dark aura as he swings it forth, "Dark Wave!" And with that, he directs his magically attack toward the docks, sending a wave of darkness down through the docks. The docks crumbling beneath the force of his attack, sending wood and metal debris flying about as he attempts to knock her off the docks, an attempt to send her into the water with that 'perfect gift' she had given him. A cruel way of accepting her gift, but perhaps he wasn't kidding when he said he had been holding back and he really can kill her at any moment when he wished it to be so.

Thesia is a pretty good SOLDIER when it comes to fighting and defending herself, but against Rook she seems to have completely let her guard down, unable to react to the Dark Wave as it blasts towards her, throwing her into the rapidly swirling waters as the dark wave blasts through the sea as well. "Ugh, Horai.." she manages to gasp before she hits the water hard..Disappearing beneath the splashing waves...

The knight stands there for a moment on what's left of the docks as he stares down at the waters where Thesia went in at. He keeps a straight face as he watches intently, and then he sharls,"Damn it." He throws his weapon aside, as he does it dissappates into the shadows from wence it came. The knight then wills a portal open beneath him in a moment's notice and then leaps into it immediately after. And about a second later a vortex of shadows, though it's kind of hard to tell as Thesia floats down further into the darker, deeper waters, but a portal opens up near her and a hand out of no where reaches out and grabs her, tugging her free of the watery confines before she can drown, and just before she might go unconscious.

Thesia coughs a bit as she's pulled out of the water, though her lungs are still full of the stuff..A moment longer and it may have been too late. Still, she's in pretty terrible condition, her clothes a little ragged, and having taken the brunt of the attack, she looks terribly weakenned and beaten up, one of her arms bent at a funny angle as if it were broken or sprained, and blood trickles from numerous fresh wounds upon her body..But..She's alive. At least for now(?) Slowly her eyes open a little, glancing back at her rescuer(?), blinking slowly. "Huh...Horai..Why did you save me?" she murmurs weakly as she gazes up at him with those gentle eyes of hers..

As he pulled her through the portal, the other end of his portal appeared just feet from Kairi's position, with the soldier in his arms the knight lays her down on the docks, he just stares at her coldly. "Because, I didn't want you to die just yet... I want you to realize that this ... what you're trying to do... is pointless. This is a result of your so called love... you're weak and helpless. Perhaps now you'll understand what I am capable of." The knight then let's her go and stands to his feet, glancing around for the redheaded girl, having brought Thesia here for a reason so the girl can make sure she'll be alright. "Kairi.." He calls out, his gaze finally pinpointing the girl as he turns to look at her,"It's your fault why this had to happen... you filled her head with idiotic ideas of love and hope... and this is the result of that. So now she's your responsibility.. Make sure she's okay, becuase I'm far from done with her."

It had been a perfectly normal day, or as perfectly normal as days in Balamb could get. Kairi spent the entire afternoon delivering chocolates to her various friends and she was almost done. There were just a few more people to deliver them to. And just as Kairi's about to head to Laguna's ship to give him his Valentine's chocolates, she's confronted with something she didn't quite expect: Rook suddenly appearing out of nowhere, Thesia in his arms. The space between them is quickly cleared as Kairi steps towards the couple, worry clearly lining her blue eyes. What was he saying? "That's not true!" What could love and hope do to make Thesia like this? Love and hope never did anything to harm anyone! She kneels down on the dock eyes settled on Thesia. "What happened to her?"

Thesia blinks slowly as she's lowered to the ground, wincing a bit from the numerous wounds inflicted upon her slender body. "I'm sorry, I just..." she sighs, turning her face away, trying to climb slowly to her feet, though she's a bit wobbly and still a little weak, "I'm not weak..I'm not! How could you say that..It takes strength to love someone, dont you know that?" she stumbles a little as she reaches out to grab a nearby tree for support. "Kairi, dont listen to him, it isnt your fault...Maybe..Maybe I was mistaken.." she glances back at Rook almost expectantly, maybe she had her doubts about him still..

Rook just watches Thesia for a moment, and then yells at Thesia in response to her last words,"LOVE makes you WEAK! AS I have just proven.. you should be fortunately enough I decided to keep you alive when I could easily kill you here and now for such foolish reasons."
The knight then looks toward Kairi, splitting his attention between the two of them,"I told you what happened. I put her in her place.. that's what happened. There is no love and there is no hope... Now maybe you'll see that. Now maybe you'll both understand. Only darkness reigns.. and soon you'll all be devoured by it.. You can deny it all you like, but you cannot stop it. As long as you never accept it it'll be like a nightmare you can't wake up from... so you might as just give up, and give yourselves to the darkness."
The knight then takes a few steps back, putting distance between them,"Next time, neither of you will be so lucky if you still insist on living by these foolish hopes and ideas..." The knight then summons a portal and quickly vanishes through it.
