Summary - Ruby reads Thesia's fortune..

Sidewalk Cafe - Traverse Town

It's a nice and cozy sidewalk cafe with a few more tables placed indoors for when it's too cold to dine outside. The floor and walls are covered in a deep mahogany finish, and a warm and cozy fireplace crackles in one corner. There's a large oak bar in the very centre of the cafe where you can buy anything from iced tea to tequilas to beer, and behind the bar is a narrow staircase leading upstairs to the upper level and the balcony. A set of large bay windows take up the east wall, which open onto the patio where more tables and chairs are seated for those warm, sunny days. Each table is adorned with a set of candles that burn constantly even when the tables are not in use.

With the upcoming tournament, all of Traverse has been busy of late, especially the cafe which is teeming with people from all over the universe..Somewhere in the darkest deepest corner of the cafe, away from the noisy sounds and lights is a certain icy tinged, silver haired Snow Nymph, staring down at her glass of tequila, idly stirring the ice cubes round and round as she gazes out the window every so often almost as if she were expecting someone. But alas, no one comes of course, and she's here alone, and apparently feeling a little down today as well, especially after her last encounter with Rook..

When someone said tournament, another thought about the reward that came with it. Always struggling for money, Ruby, the scoundrel, decided he should participate in that tournament. He'll need all the money he can get. Though first thing first, if he wanted to win, he would need cards. Many cards. As much as possible, and to make such a thing, he'd need to steal them from people. Of course, extract the cards from them. Nothing like just randomly catching a few fools into it.

Catching the sight of the Snow Nymph, finding a perfect target into her, Ruby merely smiles and gestures a hand over to her, "Heh you!" Ruby says from his own table, "Yeah, you! The girl with the blue skin... You look like your boyfriend must have dump you or something... Got trouble in love or something? Anxiety because you can't perform in bed? Another unsucessful blind date? Well, I got the answer for you to spare you all these troubles! A future reading, all free!" Ruby says.

Thesia shoots Ruby a DIRTY look, golden eyes narrowed threatenningly upon him and she doesnt move from her seat. "What the hell? That's none of your business, is it!! And anyways, where've you been the last couple of months? I thought you were gonna tell me my fortune already! I cant believe I paid in advance too, so get your butt over here and make this worth my time, AND my money! Otherwise, you'll be sorry!" she growls..Indeed, she DOES seem to be in a bad mood, but why? Who knows? Perhaps a fortune will shed more little on her worries. Settling back in her seat again, she frowns a little, folding her arms and still watches the green haired bunny boy expectantly, "Well? Dont just sit there all day! Hurry up and read my fortune already!"

And that kind of voice is countered with that usual cool smile and laid back attitude. Ruby leans back into his chair and, as if talking to his imaginery friend, whispers, "Geeze, least I don't need to be a fortune teller to know that woman's having her pre-menstrual syndrom..." It was all a matter of Ruby's humour, after all... And it seems Thesia wasn't taking it so well.

"Oh, I did... But you see, the cards said that some unfortunate events would force us apart and prevent me from telling you your future." Ruby says with a soft chuckle, lifting one hand up to scratch the back of his head. Ruby lifts himself up and he strides over to Thesia' table. He hums softly and stroke his chin, "I don't have any gils left... But if you want, I can pay you in 'nature'" Ruby winks-winks almost exageratedly, figuring it'll spare him having to pay a few gils to her.

Lifting his hands up, Ruby grimaces and says, "Alright, alright, calm down... I was just listening to the cards... They were telling me never to trust a creature that bleeds for a few days and doesn't die... Anyway, on with the fortune telling..." He says as he puts the deck on the table and says, "Shuffle the deck and thinks of what you'd like the cards to show you the answer of."

Thesia continues to eye Ruby warily, not liking his sense of humour at all...In fact, the jokes just seem to make her madder and madder and she hasnt stopped glaring at him yet either, "Hmph. You talk too much. Show me what you can do. And you'd better not be a fraud either, cuz I hate liars." she folds her arms, settling back in her seat once more, and reaches out for the cards this time, cutting the deck and shuffling them rather thoroughly. "Alright..." she closes her eyes, focusing on the cards as she thinks, and even mumurs a bit aloud, "I want to know..What lies in my future..And will I ever achieve my greatest desire?" alas, such vague ponderings could probably be easily mistaken for something else by all but the most genuine of fortune tellers. Let's just hope he's the real deal, else she just wasted all her money.

Lips curling into a smile, Ruby chuckles a bit nervously and he grimaces, "Alright, calm down, calm down. I'm doing it for free you know, geeze..." Ruby merely shakes his head and says, "Speak of some gratitude..." He then nods his head and takes the deck back once Thesia is through with it and he draws cards one after the other.

First comes the Chocobo card. Number 1. Upon it is drawn the majestuous bird, with those blue innocent eyes and that great smile on its beak.

Second is the Star card. This one is represented by some sort of asteroid gliding through the card upon a starlit sky.

The third one that is drawn is the Dark card. Upon it is drawn a lovely woman, though she is surrounded by the silhouette of another woman, whom merely shields the woman's eyes with one hand and seems to embrace her softly.

The fourth one is the Sacrifice card. Upon it is drawn an hanged man, caught at various place and left to suffer upon some sort of wooden cross or some other similar device, blind folded, cuffed and with his body broken and bleeding.

The last but not least is the Life card. Which ons is represented by a small sprout with two little leaves upon it, not too far from a spring and currently bathed with light.

"Here we are. The cards say you'll have a great night... And it'll probably be an unforgiveable night you'll spend with the most wonderful man on earth, whom will please you to no end, they also say he'll sport long green ears, a tail and a ruby on his forehead..."

He waits for a moment. then he grins, "Ahahah, just kidding... Okay, seriously now..."

Thesia watches the cards as they're laid out on the table intently, waiting expectantly for some grand, cryptic fortune to follow..Which is what almost happens as he mentions the 'most wonderful man on earth'..Alas, it's only when he's finished reading the fortune that she realizes it's not Rook, which causes her to frown, and rise from her seat, "Heey! What kinda crap is that!? I thought you were gonna tell me my fortune, not this crap!! Sheesh!"
Leaning back a little, Ruby grimaces and lifts his hands up, "Heheh now, calm down, it was just a joke. Bah, you're definately not fun... And I thought being blue would have made you cool-headed, not hot-headed... Heheh.." Ruby merely chuckles almost inwardly at his own joke that was worth at least a good moment of silence along with the tumbleweed being blown by the wind across the tavern.

He shakes his head and heaves a sigh, "Your future concerns some persons that are very dear to you." Ruby says with a slow nod of his head, "Friends or some other, maybe family or something. Things will change, and, I believe it will be for the best. Perhaps secrets that should have been said will be. Things that should have been done but have not will be. Perhaps forgiveness sought for so long will be..." Ruby says.
Thesia blinks, slowly lowering into her seat again as she listens..Indeed, she may be aligned with the ice and snow, but she is hardly cool-headed..At least not when it comes to keeping her temper in check. The prophetic words however, seem to have caught her attention and she eyes the cards thoughtfully for a moment longer, frowning softly, "Oh...Really? And then what? I doubt it'd be that easy, afterall nothing that's good is ever so easy to come by..What must I do to achieve my goals?"
"One thing at a time." Ruby says with a slow nod of his head, almost like the sage. He glances over toward the Star card and he heaves a soft sigh, "Hope, Expectation, Bright promises. Such is what the Star card reveals in your future. Believe in miracles and they will know your feeling, that is what lies within your future. Just as the star it shines brightly, and the hope for the solution with the problems you currently have with your loved ones will be solved eventually if you keep beliving into it..."

The man then glances over toward The Dark one and then points out to it, "However, the strings of some unseen forces will hinder those and try to prevent it from happening. Try to break this relationship and keep you both apart. It will blind your eyes or perhaps the one of the person or persons in question, thus making the task much harder."

Thesia bites her lip as she listens, looking a little worried though that worry slowly turns to mild anger. "Grr...The Heartless..Yes, of course, it must be them. Who else?" she thinks aloud, having forgotten for a moment that you're still sitting there and shakes her head, "Ugh..So..What do I have to do, just..Believe? Hope? No way it's as simple as that. Isnt there more you can tell me? How do I defeat them, or is even that beyond my power?" argh..She's got so many questions, and so little time1

The man arches a brow, "Huh? Heartless?" Ruby blinks and he just shrugs it off. He just read the cards, the woman saw into what he said whatever she wanted, after all. "Not quite." Ruby says, "That's merely what's in the path to come." Ruby states, "In order to make it through, you will have to do a lot of sacrifices. What kind of sacrifices? I can't say, really. But it will be definately something to go through. Many loss will probably come out of this." He says with a slow nod of his head.

"In the end though, despite the many sacrifices, you will manage a new relationship with that person. Big changes, really. Like an upheavel. Perhaps an enemy will become a good friend, or something. A new relation, a different sort of one will be born out of this whole ordeal."

Thesia blinks as she realizes she said that aloud, and shakes her head quickly, "Erm...Nothing, forget I said anything!" she bites her lip, looking back at you again curiously, "Hmph, I knew it'd have to be something like that..Like I havent made enough sacrifices already! What more can I do, anyway?" but..In the end, maybe she'll still have her Horai back! If that's the case, then no sacrifice is too big! At that thought, her very expresssion seems to soften considerably. Sighing a little, she searches through her pockets for some spare change to pay the fortune teller, "Alright..So how much do I owe you then?"
"Well, if you want, the future has not been determined yet so... If you still wanted that wonderful night with the man of your dreams..." Ruby says, letting his words trail off for a moment. He chuckles and then shakes his head a little, before he asks, "Just draw another card is all I ask, really." Ruby says with a slow nod of his head. He tilts his head to one side and says, "See? Told ya you'd enjoy my future reading."

Oh great, there he goes again, the old lecher! Removing her hand from her pocket, she glares back at you again with that icy cold stare of hers, one that could kill with but a look perhaps, "Grr...Dont push it, Ruby..Or you'll be sorry!" besides, Rook'd totally kill him for hitting on his girl like that! She shrugs then, peering down at the cards, and smirks, "Heh, that's all? Sheesh, what kinda fortune teller would turn down money just for this? You couldnt possibly get much of a profit from this business..Especially if your fortunes are for real!" she does pull another card from the deck however, glancing at it thoughtfully..

"Alright, I got it. But you're missing something." Ruby says with a soft chuckle. Obviously, he didn't mind being rejected like that, it has grown to be more or less a constant and his flirting skill had become something fairly legendary amongst the others Imperials... And there's just something about having a legend about you that makes you... Let's say, more inclined to living up to your legend than anything else, somehow.

Ruby gives a shrug to Thesia and says, "Well, it's free for you, I've made you wait long enough, no?" Ruby then lowers his gaze and waits for his own paid. With just that touch, without realizing it, Thesia was about to give birth to yet another one of Ruby's magical card. Such was his reward. And the card that is revealed and turned happens to be...

- XIII - * The Moon * - XIII -

Thrown out of the deck by Ruby, the card flips about in the air, revealing its imagery. Upon it is drawn a lovely yellow sphere on a midnight black background. Through the sphere that recalls the moon, a young woman seems to dive down from the heavens, covered into immaculate white silk.

With a grin, Ruby takes the card and puts it with the others, "Great!" He grins and says, "Come over and cheer for me in the tournament, I'll make sure to win a few matches for you." Ruby says with a grin. "Or... Arg, I mean... Hehe, never mind..."

Hmm..The moon card, what could that mean? She peers over at the card curiously, giving Ruby a quizzical look. No doubt, working for the same organization as him, she too has heard of his legendary flirting which only causes her to frown all the more after seeing it in person. Grr. Some people. As the card is taken from her she continues to give him the cold look, finally rising to her feet, "Geez, you never learn, do you..But anyways, I'll be fighting in the tournament too so dont expect me to be cheering for you.." she does smile a little though, feeling somewhat grateful for a glimpse into her own future that doesnt seem *quite* as dark as she had once imagined it would be. And, perhaps there is hope afterall. For just a moment her expression softens a touch as she glances towards Ruby once more, "I'll probably end up fighting against you, but I'll try not to go TOO hard on you.." afterall, he is just a cute and cuddly little bunny afterall, and as she glances over at his ridiculous floppy ears once more, she cant help but chuckle a little as she leaves, "Good luck, Ruby, you're gonna need it to beat me.."

It was legendary as in... It sucked. Not because it was great, truly. Ruby merely returns the smile and lifts one hand up over to Thesia, idly waving it, "Oh, I never hurt a lady... I'll make sure your round against me will be quite the pleasant one..."

Shaking his head, Ruby then shows up the Moon Card and says, "This card is the proof you'll lose the tournament." Ruby says with a nod, "So I'll take it easy on you." He chuckles and sets it up into the deck of card, "I can hear the card. Do you know how's the Moon Card?" Ruby asks as he glances over, "It relates to Twilight, Deceptions and errors... Alas, I think that means you won't win against me... That or... Well, the deception comes from the fact you're passing on the offer of the most wonderful man that was made for you." Ruby says with that dashing grin.

"I'll see you in the tournament, Thesia... After all, I wouldn't want to make my cards look like a bunch of liars... 'cause they always tell the truth."

Thesia pauses as one more fortune is told, and shoots yet another icy glare towards him, "Geez..Give up already." afterall, she already has the most wonderful man in her life right now. He's just a little bit..Err..Evil is all..at the moment..That is. But she's gonna fix that very soon! As for the fortune, it warrants another smirk from her as she shakes her head, "I wouldnt go easy on me if I were you, bunny boy, you might just regret it, anyways, we'll see who's the better fighter when the time comes..See you around.." and with that, she's gone, swallowed up quickly by the meandering crowds..
