That 2013 review thing because I am the best.
1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
I went on a proper tour with a band and I learned how to say "Excuse me" (the 'can I get by you' version) in German. Going to Germany was a first as well, as was taking a photograph of a poor unfortunate trapped in Spandau. It was the best of times, it was the best of times.
Oh, and I released an album on a proper label!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'm not sure that I made any. If I vowed to rock out more, then I succeeded.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Ed and Angel and Stanners and Kelly and lots of my internet chums and others besides. Babies were pretty hip in 2013.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Great Auntie Laura, who was ace. Going to her funeral with my Mum, Dad and Sister and seeing all the places we'd grown up in with my Grandparents was bittersweet, but I'm glad I could go to say goodbye. Found out she worked at Bletchley Park in the war too, she was amazing!
5. Which countries did you visit?
Switzerland, France, Germany, Portugal. I liked them all. A+, would visit again.
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
Hair. :(
7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
All of the tour + the Scala because they were incredible. The Suede covers night, because it was my first 'solo' performance in an age. All sorts of giggy things, really. Karaoke with Sheila Chips was pretty immense too.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Releasing my album, probably!
9. What was your biggest failure?
The solo gig I did for David Shah's night. It was just rubbish! Sorry everyone!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Couple of major operations, one of which needs doing again, other than that pretty much just toughed it out.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Colonial Marines. Yep, it's not that good. No, I haven't stopped playing the multiplayer. Sue me.
Bloodsports is up there too. Well done, chaps!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Keith TOTP and the entirety of his lovely, lovely minor UK indie celebrity all star backing band, Soft Bodies (you know who you are!), Art Brut, my lovely chums and MY OWN.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I think my serious photo face at certain memorials probably fits into this category.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food/Childcare.
15. What were you really, really, really excited about?
Colonial Merengues, Die Hard 5, Bloodsports, The Next Day, The V&A Exhibition, Evil Dead, Star Trek Into Darkness, GTAV... Not all delivered.
And the tour and Skyrider coming out, but that's a given, really.
16. What song will always remind you of 2013?
Art Brut - Post Soothing Out (live version)
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder?
About the same - I'm pretty chill.
b) Bigger or smaller?
Bigger. Stupid Christmas. It'll be under control by February though.
c) Richer or poorer?
The same old terrifying just about managing state as ever. Doesn't worry me anymore.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Summer walks, gigs, chill time alone with Donna, playing with Jonah.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Operations, by 50% - total waste of time.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Mum and Dad's with Jen, Donna and Jonah. It was ace.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

The dickfuckery going on with the NHS.
37. Who did you miss?
Everybody.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I properly met all of Art Brut this year, I guess, and they were all lovely! Likewise the minor indie celebs I didn't know that well! The best out and out stranger until meeting was Sheila Chipperfield, though!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
It is better to hand a guitar to an excited person than to throw one at a disinterested one.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"Look at us! We formed a band!".
