if a democrat/progessive could watch last night and not be inspired...get a little tight in the chest or a little misty-eyed...then something is missing from their soul. it was an amazing, inspiring speech and what America needs now, more than anything I think, is to be inspired ( Read more... )

He said it best in He Shall From Time to Time:

"I was watching a television program before, with a kind of roving moderator who spoke to a seated panel of young women who were having some sort of problem with their boyfriends - apparently, because the boyfriends had all slept with the girlfriends' mothers. And they brought the boyfriends out, and they fought, right there on television. Toby, tell me: these people don't vote, do they?"

You can still vote (for other things, like local elections and such). I'm still going to vote in November, I'm just not sure I can bring myself to vote for a presidential candidate.

Obama makes me nauseated.

I didn't hear last night's speech but I did hear a speech he made some time ago; I can't remember if it was about race or what but it was really stirring. The man knows how to give a well turned speech. I'm not an enthusiastic supporter but he will get my vote because he's the only viable option.

Yes we can.

I mean, okay, I would have preferred Hillary, but, that's okay. Her time isn't over. Obama's an inspiring person, and at this point, I think that the American voting populace is so hungry for vision, for hope...well, you're right is what I mean. We need that. Hell, *I* need that. It's like that (who else) Sorkin quote about drinking the sand.

I also want to beat the people who are insisting that there's a significant number of, shall we say, old school FDR style Dems who won't vote for a black man. I say, fuck them, I don't want them in my party, and I *don't* want their racist votes, and the GOP should be ashamed (they won't be, but they should) if their guy wins because he's whiter.

(It's a long ass time till November, isn't it. Gaah.)
