Also, "Shazam" is pretty cool. It will tell you the title, and artist of a song that you are listening to and will let you flag it for purchase on iTunes at a later time.
Cube Runner is a fun game as well and Writing Pad is kind of neat if you need to jot down some quick notes in a dash and don't want to waste too much time.
Solfree is a version of solitaire but it's not as good as the version that you pay for because it only lets you draw three cards at a time.
All of the apps that I listed above are free.
I paid for Tetris and that was worth it, and Pacman, but Pacman wasn't worth it.
my phone is jailbroken, but the only apps i've installed are winterboard, (a theme-ing app) and qik, (a live video broadcasting app). http://qik.com/jdhorner
regular apps:
twinkle (free twitter app that is location/photo aware)
facebook (free app that presents facebook in a great way for iphone)
tap tap revenge (free app that's like guitar hero or rock band. very addictive)
exposure (free flickr app that is kinda boring, but neatly shows you photos that others have taken that were geotagged near your present location. VERY unique feature)
midomi (free app that is like "shazam", below, but i like it better)
palringo (free app that does instant messaging (AIM, etc...). of course, limited functionality because apps can't currently run in the background)
iPint (free version. stupid, stupid app. but everyone LOVES seeing it. and at the end, you can "drink" your beer by tilting your phont! hehe)
the only three i paid for were STMinfo (a great montreal metro/bus schedule thing)
