Day 10 - A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
The Canterbury Tales. Why do they always cover "The Miller's Tale" in high school? I don't mind the obscene but I hate bawdy. I don't know why. Go full-on Naked Lunch or don't wander into the sphere of the scatological at all. My brain doesn't do the middle ground. I don't "hate" it, but Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley mysteries, like The Wheel of Time, just drag after awhile. It's just me, I'm sure, but I could care precisely no less about Lynley's school friends.
I'm also not very fond of cozy, seasonal murder mysteries. The sort that fill the shelves by the Romance section around the holidays, you know ( Read more... ) -

Oh. Uh... since last January I've read The Aeneid, the Regeneration trilogy, Arthur & George, and The Red and the Black. I don't think I can choose between them. I think I went with Stendhal in the '10 Fandom Meme, but that was expediency. I suppose I could do that again! I think I had the most "fun" with that book out of this lot. Oh, la, I've no idea. I think most things I've read have thriving discussions about them, it's just a matter of looking. I've heard DH Lawrence described as being "out of fashion", which is kind of a shame?
