I was growing sick of this life I had.  I didn’t want all the surprises.  All I wanted was for everything to go back to how it was.  No more vampires, no more shifters, no more weres… no more love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just four months ago, I was risking my life to save someone dear to me.  He wasn’t an ordinary person.  Ordinary people didn’t exist in my world.  His name was Sakurai Sho.  He was a news caster on a late night television program, he was my lover and he was half-vampire.
Our friends consisted of a hunter, a shifter and another vampire.  Well...we had more friends than that, but our closest friends happened to be supernatural.
My name is Ninomiya Kazunari.  I’m 27 years old, but I’m often told I look 17.  I am a human with long dark brown, almost black hair, which isn’t too long that I can’t manage, and brown eyes.  I also have a mole on the right side of my chin, which I’ve heard fans say, is what makes me distinguishable from other actors and improves my overall looks.  I no longer think of it as a bother.  It wasn’t the fans that changed my mind, it was Sakurai.  He always told me that I looked wonderful.  I wasn’t a woman… I wouldn’t say I favored men… It just so happened that we had a history.  Not a history where I dated him, broke up and then got back together.  This was a history that dated hundreds of years.
He was a person who was changed by a vampire called Yokohama Yuu.  Yokohama was interrupted by Aiba Masaki, one of our friends (the vampire), and because the change was stopped abruptly, he became half.  When he tried to take revenge, Yokohama killed Sakurai’s fiancée, who happened to be me at the time…well…it was my soul.  After that, because Sakurai stopped aging, he constantly searched for my soul in each life I had.  I didn’t know how he did it but he made it possible.  It was all based on reincarnation.  Each time I died, my soul would go to another body.  Sakurai would go out and search for me, and he would find me…well most of the time.  There was a time when I decided not to come.  When I finally arrived in human form again, I was a female and had a very high priestess-like position. I was even engaged.  The only reason I didn’t go through with it was because of him.
It wasn’t like he did it on purpose either.   He told me that he wanted to meet me in each life because of the life he never had with me when we were engaged.  It was my choice, and now, he was in this eternal love with me, where anything could happen.
These past eight months, I had a chance to reflect and saw just how hard my life is.  If I wasn’t acting, performing a song on stage, or playing video games I was in a hospital or in a pinch.
But right now I was satisfied being in the same bed as Sho.
I felt a small warmth fill me.  My eyes shut tight as my back arched off the bed.  When I opened my eyes, I could see sweat dripping from his forehead and I felt it on his back.  He collapsed on top of me.
“Stop being so rough with me…” I gasped.
“It’s…sex,” he replied in breaths.
I smiled.  Good point.
I rolled him off me, covering our bodies with the bed’s blanket and looked him in the eyes.
“It’s been too long,” he complained.
“I can’t help it if I happen to live at home.”
“Maybe it’s time you moved out.”
I hadn’t thought of moving out.  I never had a serious relationship, and I was away so much with work that it never suited me to move out.  I stopped taking acting jobs for a while and started to focus more on my music.  That meant I was more at home.  My mom lived alone so I just decided to live here with her.  She was away this week visiting my sister.
Maybe it was a good idea to move out.
“Only if you go with me,” I pleaded.
“Silly. I did bring it up.”
We leaned our heads together and laid there in silence.
We went apartment searching the next day.  Our friend, Ohno Satoshi, joined us in our search.
He was my closest friend.  We’ve been together for as long as I could remember.  He was in the same talent agency as me.  He could sing and dance better than me, when he was up to it.  He was only 3 years older than me, but he behaved like an old man.  He had hair that was only an inch or two shorter than mine, but was lighter in color.  He usually styled it a specific way, but it was flat today.  His eyes were the same color: a dark brown.  He was a shifter and often changed into a golden lab.  That was his ‘go-to’ animal.  He was involved in the supernatural world long before I was.
“Jun and Masaki are coming home today!”
Shocked, I said, “They are?!”
Matsumoto Jun and Aiba Masaki were our other friends.  Matsumoto Jun, or ‘MatsuJun’ as I called him, was just an inch or two taller than all of us (except for Aiba) and had the proud title of ‘Hunter’.  He was level-headed and often kept to himself.  At first, I didn’t get along with him.  I hated him.  When I first met him, he was hunting for Yokohama Yuu.  Yokohama drained his fiancée and left her to die and he always thwarted Jun when he was out hunting for him.  Sho and I were sitting on my roof one morning watching the sunrise and he fired a bullet at us.  In order to save me, Sho pushed me off the roof and I broke my arm.  That’s another story.  Turned out, he thought Sho was Yokohama.  It was all one misunderstanding that turned for the better.
Aiba Masaki was the vampire that found Sho after he was turned.  Sho said he owed him for saving his life.  He was very excitable and often went on random curiosity rants which usually lead to us performing experiments.  You’d think that a vampire who’s lived as long as him would know everything.  The first time I met him, I didn’t like him that much either.  Just as I was confronting Sho about being a vampire, before I knew about him, Aiba showed up in my window and told Sho to drain me.  Not the best first impression.  Once I talked to him more, he was alright.  He was really just a child at heart.
The last time we saw them was 2 months ago.  They picked up a lead on a werewolf that was getting dangerously close to a town near Izumo and went to go on patrol.  It was a full moon when they left, and just recently, there was another.  They could only change on full moons, unlike shifters who could change whenever they wanted.
Werewolves had to keep to themselves.  They weren’t allowed to get near towns and it was a death sentence to bite a human.  Weres were much more organized than vampires and they had rules which needed to be abided by.
“They are coming in tonight.  They can’t travel during the day,” Ohno said.
That was right.  Vampires couldn’t be out in the sunlight and Aiba being a vampire…it wasn’t easy traveling.
I couldn’t wait to see them again.  We used to spend all of our free time together and when they went away, it stopped.  We had catching up to do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They arrived at 10 that night.  We went to pick them at the air port when their flight came in.

As soon as I saw the two of them, I hugged them around the neck as best I could.  Jun’s hair was shorter and pushed to the left side.  It was different after seeing him all this time with long hair which was curled at the ends.  Aiba’s hair was different as well.  It was cut shorter, dyed black, and curled.  MatsuJun wrapped an open arm around me.

“Nino-chan! That hurts!” Aiba said, in his breathy voice.

The only thing that didn’t seem to change was their attitudes.   After we had our mini reunion, Ohno said, “Come on. Let’s go home.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ‘home’ Ohno talked about was my house.  Our usual hang out spot was my room, small as it was.  Everything seemed like it usually was.  Aiba took up his spot on my bean bag chair, with my guitar.  Sho and I shared my bed.  MatsuJun sat at my windowsill and Ohno sat with his back against the bed’s frame.
“I’ll be right back,” I said, getting up and leaving the room.
I hurried down to the kitchen where I knew my mom kept a bottle of sake.  I grabbed the bottle and 5 small cups and made my way back to my bedroom.
When I arrived, I cracked the door open to get their attention.  When I got it, I poked the bottle and cups into the room.  The room erupted with praise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I awoke sometime during the night with a migraine.  I’d drunk too much and felt wasted.  The idea was good at the time, but now that I was feeling the after effects, it was very stupid.

“Somebody!”

Someone was calling from down stairs.  When I looked at my friends on the floor, there were only 3 of them.

“HEY!!! HELP PLEASE!!!”

I rushed out of my room and down the stairs to see the door to my house wide open and a girl draped over Ohno on the floor.
