thanks for the advice! Alissa also suggested gerbils, i was thinking about a hamster again but I'm still having trouble looking at them at the pet store... its kind of silly i guess but Killer was with me for three years and any hamster that looks remotely like him makes me kind of uncomfortable. i'm most concerned with biting because i want something that i can trust with Aiden and November... and thinking about it, something i don't have to worry about them hurting too much either.
Our gerbils only bite if they're SUPER startled. You would probably be well advised to get them used to you and Rob and teach the older kids proper handling, and when the gerbils are used to you all, they should be social and ready to play with Aiden and November :) The great thing about gerbils is that they aren't noctural like Hamsters- they wake and play and then nap for a while all throughout the day and night. So if you have a general schedule- times when everyone is awake and walking by, they're likely to be awake then, and when there are lulls in activity, they'll take a nap! Just remember if you get gerbils, they are social (with humans and other gerbils) and you need to get at least 2 (they cuddle to sleep in a pile and clean each other and play)- best case senario is 2 females from the same litter. Good luck! :)
thank you! that actually sounds completely adorable. we'll have to go gerbil shopping when we get a chance, im excited to have a pet again after... its been 3 or so years i think. love you!
