Exactly! I'm without a job currently. Still looking, but I don't think I'm going to find anything Aerospace related for a year or so. My parents won't let me get retail jobs or apply for any other type of jobs directly. I was surprised they let me apply to one temp agency.
Basically, their argument is that I won't get a real job if I have a retail job. What the fuck! I actually wanna use my education, you know? I just... need money. Badly.
I'm going to propose to Mom that i start doing some volunteering. It's a great way to network.
My sister, who has a Masters in Literature and is trying to teach college-level courses... is working at Borders. Why? Because no matter how hard she tries, she can't land a job. The market is saturated with people like her - excellent qualifications and in a lot of cases, with more experience than her. So she works at Borders to help pay bills, and looks for new jobs all the time.
I would be doing the same thing if it wasn't for the fact that I'm about to leave for Australia. I'm definitely not staying in McDonald's for the rest of my life.
*hugs* I hope you find a good solution soon, even if it might be a retail job so you can get from point a to point b. And your parents' logic is baffling.
Yeah, I'm going to have to find a job to wait out the depression and take classes on the side, then get some certifications. I'm doing that next week, actually.
Mom keeps on making me apply to like... five, six jobs a day, and I know that I can't get most of them. I really need money and something that will give me health insurance, though. And I'm not getting that.
Maybe in a few weeks, there will be more openings as people go back to school. Until then, though, I'm kinda fucked, if my parents won't let me get a job to tide this out.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot! For gallbladder stuff, it helps if you eat some sort of grain/bread before you eat vegetables. :| Otherwise, it can cause a looooot of digestive pain.
Most people are all for that. My question to you is: is it being done right?
MY answer is: no. I'm suspicious of anything that is so many pages no one has read it. I'm also suspicious of anything that is put to us as "It's either now or not at all." Of course it's not now or never. If we don't do it now, we could easily still not have the money next year and do it. We don't have the money to pay for it at this time, there is nothing that could change between now and later, except the possibility that the reform will be better and work better and benefit more people.
:| Yeah, I was kinda like "WTF why is there so many pages?" for the bill. It sounds like people are tacking on a whole bunch of shit.
Oy, we definitely need it done, but I really hope that bill gets cut down by a lot... or a different one that's much smaller is introduced. I'm not sure how much I trust health care reform to those that get some of the best medical insurance in the world.
Agreed. It's a sound idea in theory, but the current practice of it is seriously questionable. That, and I've seen government financed healthcare at work. Quite frankly, it sucks. Enough that I've paid serious extra bucks and done extra paperwork to do other stuff. So that needs addressing.
I was recently (as in: today) presented with the fact that I very possibly have a medical issue that will render me infertile if I don't get it seen to right away. My life's ambition is to be a mother. I have no health insurance, haven't for the last ten years, and don't foresee getting any for at least four years (when I finish school).
I'm pretty much watching my dreams fall apart because I have nowhere I can go to have this problem tended to.
OH MAN, that's horrible! asdfasdf, that's... auuugh. That's why we really do need health care reform. Is there a possibility of freezing some of your eggs for later, or is that too expensive to do?
I was going to mention something about Magus in this reply until I read yours, but now isn't the time, asdf. :| Unless you need a laugh?
I've actually suspected this was coming for a while. Just hearing someone else agree with me was a little... punch-in-the-gutty, you know?
I haven't looked into it, but from what I've heard, egg-freezing would be more expensive than getting this thing looked at without insurance. x_x
I'm not... *hugely* upset over this, since just because I'm infertile doesn't mean I can't ever be a mother. I just can't bear my own biological children. I don't have a problem adopting. But it's still kind of a bummer. :/
Yes, I know what you mean... >: And I figured the egg-freezing would be expensive, but I wasn't sure how much.
And yeah, adopting is always a possibility. It just would suck that you can't get preggers. :| So I can see where it'd be a real big bummer....
I finally figured out how to protect Magus from himself, as he still tries to jump out every now and then (I think it's bugs in our room flying around, mostly). Clear plastic plate + dremel + small rock = weighted down lid with plenty of air holes. And he can see out of it easier than the other solutions, meaning that he's okay with it. He also loves my brother's Boston Terrier.
And my friend needed the original Joe Fox back (the stuffed animal he was in love with), so we managed to find another Joe somehow, and she bought him for Magus. XD So now he's happy.

It's hard to pay for an individual plan when one doesn't have money because they don't have a job.
I'm going to be in a similar situation. Not in two months, but near future.

I agree with you. Sound in theory, but the practice is where it breaks down... they should really study it before pushing a bill through.

It sucked.
I say pass SOMETHING and we can fix it later.
Not that I think it *will* get fixed later, but that's what I say anyhow.
After all the alternative isn't working, and much as I want a perfect world, it's not coming around tomorrow.
Cranky Sher' is cranky.

I'm not sure how getting things passed immediately will help. IIRC, it's going to be a few years before this is implemented.
But if we don't get it done, things like this will happen more and more often as people lose employer health insurance.
As much as people complain about government health care... the current ones we have are fairly......
I have a puppy on my lap.
