Today;April 21st,2004, my school took part in a nation wide protest known as the day of silence. This is a day in which students take a vow of silence to raise awareness for someone without a voice. On October 7th, 1998; Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old university of Wyoming student; left a local Laramie with two men. He thought he was getting a ride home from these men, but instead, they took him to a remote area, where they robbed him of 20 dollars, tied him to a fence, and pistol whipped him.
