I really disagree with you on most of those points. For starters, I think the outrageous divorce rate in this country is a product of (I know this sounds cliche) the fast food generation. Everyone is brought up thinking that if something isn't liked or is unwanted, go get a new one. If something breaks go get a new one...so on and so forth. Also, it's so easy to get a divorce now, it makes it very easy for people to jump and make the decision to get married because they figure "Hell, if I don't like him in six months I can just go get a divorce for $50, everyone does it anyways, why can't I ( ... )

Learning about the family/marriage/divorce from a socialogical point of view in one of my classes right now. sheds some like a few things. Some of it is biblically based, some functionally, some power-position...
