If you come with me to Flagler in St. Augustine, you are right next door to a Reserves training area. And Flagler has a GREAT education school.

it's only $2,000 more per year than NIU...

and the english dept. looks AMAZING!!!!!! i could major in english and minor in education and have time to think about the reserves more...

are you seriously considering it? it looks so great, and it'd be so great to kinda leave behind illinois for a little. i feel like i wouldn't be growing up if i went to niu. are you seriously considering it? i need to talk to my parents but i think i might apply.... holy cow, the english dept. looks great....

Yes! Flagler and Bradley are my top two.

Talk to your mom about it! And I'm thinking about it, as well, so you wouldn't be alone!

seems like you have a passion too... auzzy_bound September 10 2005, 21:32:44 UTC
Char, baby! Sweetie, it's great that you have a calling, and you can shoot me if you like, but the war going on right now, isn't helping anyone. It's only for oil. If you join the reserves, you won't be helping anyone. You'll just be killing the mothers' and fathers' of the chrildren you see in the middle east. If you really want to help the victims, that's what the peace core is for. Maybe I'm being a little too harsh, but I hate fighting. And this is just my opinion. But what ever you decide, make sure it's what you feel in your heart. What will you enjoy more? Plus, I don't want to lose one of my coolest friends for 18 months and worry that your truck exploded.

Char, you don't realize- you give back every single day. I'm always learning things from you, you're insightful, you're always explaining things or looking deep into the heart of it all... you are gifted in your wisdom and advice and insight. THAT is the greatest gift, that you need to continue passing on to others. You'd be missing your calling if you didn't enlighten future children, and future PEOPLE period (readers, friends, etc.) by being around and giving to THEM. We need you around. Future students need you. The world needs your VOICE. It isn't selfish. It's brilliant to realize this stuff in yourself and make the commitment to devote yourself to all those future children. Do THIS. They need you more than anything ( ... )

oh charlotte, you have no idea how much respect i have for you. just the fact that you are considering it demonstrates true bravery; i have so much respect for anyone in the services and in all honesty it would be an honor to see you in the reserves. i can honestly understand your situation because once upon a time i received "the call" in my own heart. and so did my dad. i still think it would be a good idea to speak to someone that came from that background, and my dad would be ideal. he was a recruiter for 20 years and did serve in iraq and saudi arabia. so if you ever really want to talk about it, just let him know. (and he'll tell you the good and the bad), love eva

oh and also, being in the reserves doesn't mean you'd be killing innocent people. you have the option of being in a specific battallion that aids with food supplies, medical aid, etc. i still think you need to speak to someone with the experience.

do what you want. i say make a list of pros and cons and weight it out there. that way you can see things and how you want it.

i've made up my mind as of last night. i'm going to australia, becoming a street aussie, sell myself to a rich man and have lots of children....so at least you know 'kinda' what you want to do....

just remember you can do anything.
