I Need a Vacation

So next weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, is a three day weekend, and obviously alot of people are planning, like, two or three day vacations. My mum apparently isn't, but Tay's dad is going to take Tay, his sister, and some of their extended family on a house boat on the Colorado river. They're not really doing anything other than chill for two days

What you asked was not bad or inappropriate at all. Your mother is just extremely overprotective. You're about to go to college and she still won't let you cook, right? It's crazy. SHE is definitely crazy.

Wait? Colorado River? Ok, maybe I can understand it a little if you're heading near Havasu, but it doesn't sound like you would be.

Dad only has a say in it if he agrees with my mother. When he doesn't, she declares that he's too childish and thus his opinion is worthless.
