Summary: Suddenly Dongjun feels that Junyoung is out of his reach. Rainy in his heart.
A/N: Inspired by the "
Rainy Night BTS and of course ZE:A's performance of
Rainy Night “What are you doing here?” The cameraman asked the young man in front of him. He, Dongjun, released the door’s handle he’s been holding and smiled awkwardly. “I’m going to perform secretly for our fans. It’s an acapella…”
He grinned like a kid, his face looked so happy when he held that red rose.
“…aitakute oh my girl…”
Dongjun could hear Junyoung’s voice clearly from behind the closed door. He followed Junyoung’s line, it’s going to be his turn soon. He should prepare. But somehow, his eyes wandered off when he sang that line. It’s a quick wander off but enough to make him surprised when a staff came out through that door.
“Dongjun-ah, your turn soon. Please prepare now…” A staff reminded him. The youngest boy nodded politely and tidied up his suit before he came out.
He then slowly opened the door and waited on the corner of the room, waiting for his turn to join Junyoung’s performance.
Dongjun never told anyone about this, but he really missed Junyoung right now. It’s been a while since the last time he spent time together with his hyung, and now, he seemed so far away.
The stage seemed out of his reach, and so did with the man who sang on stage.
Dongjun has been busy with his musical, so he barely had time to spend with other members, especially with the leader. Junyoung himself has to rest a lot due to his recent accident, and Dongjun didn’t have much time to take care of him. No matter how painful he felt inside when he couldn’t see his beloved hyung’s face, he had to be professional.
“Ssshh…” Dongjun put his index finger in front of his lips, signaling the cameraman to reduce any noise. The fans shouldn’t see him before Minwoo hyung appeared on the other side.
“….kono omoi forever….” Junyoung’s voice heaved loudly, and made the young man stood still, empty-stared. Slowly his mouth opened, and without he realized he tried to sing his line.
“…kimi no inai sekai wa…” He tried to sing that line, but his tongue stuck at the word ‘inai’. Gone. A world without you. He didn’t dare to imagine it.
He bite his lips, what if…Junyoung will go soon from his side? What if he’ll be no longer his?
“….dakishimetai hi no... Kimi no kaori zutto karada wo hanarenakute…”
Dongjun’s eyes glued to Junyoung’s figure even more.
Rainy night. How ironic this song is.
How could Junyoung sing this song when he began to doubt their love? And the song’s title reminded him of one of their memories. It was when they’re still trainees.
That night, Dongjun sneaked to the office’s rooftop and decided to stay there through the night. He missed his parents so much, but he couldn’t call them. Not because the company forbade him, but he never wanted to make his parents worried. So perhaps it would be the best for him to be alone that night. But Junyoung somehow managed to find him and begged him to come home.
“Let me stay here this night, hyung.” Dongjun said that night. “Give me some time for myself.”
Junyoung nodded, but he didn’t leave. Instead, he stood beside Dongjun and held his hand tight. “Just so you know that I’m here for you. Always.” He replied when Dongjun raised his eyebrow.
Dongjun didn’t say anything, Junyoung didn’t continue either. But somehow the warmth he felt from Junyoung’s hand made him calm. And safe. It was the night when he began to like those arms that protected him from the rain that suddenly came, those warmth beneath the coldness that wrapped their drenched bodies, the sincere smile he shown when he said that he would still accompany Dongjun that night, even if he trembled by the coldness given by the rain. That was the night when Dongjun fell for Junyoung’s kindness. On a rainy night, Junyoung’s warmness melted Dongjun’s heart.
And will it still the same now?
Dongjun questioned himself.
Can he still addressed ‘his’ to Junyoung now? Or should he called him with ‘ours’, in case he’s no longer his. At least he can still own him by using ‘ours’, even if he’s not solely his anymore. Dongjun said to himself, trying to cheer him up.
“…baby I still love you…”
Really hyung? Is it your own feeling? Dongjun wondered in his own thought. Do you still love me?
“Dongjun-ah, your turn in 30 seconds. Ppalli!” A staff reminded him, and gave a signal to start walking to the audiences. Dongjun nodded and brought his rose with him, slowly he opened the door and came out. He noticed that Minwoo was already there, on the other side.
“Hazusenai mune no KUROSU ni kizanda sono namae
Baby you're my love”
“….kimi no sekai wa yami ni furuete…” Dongjun began to sing as he walked to the stage, he smiled politely to the fans and waved his hands. But his heart somehow cracked inside. An insecure feeling slipped into his mind. What would his world be without Junyoung inside?
But damn, he’s freaking fell in love again with the older boy when he added “boku no sekai wa” just when he sang his line.
You and I mean us, isn’t it?
Their performance finally came to an end. Today’s performance has ended, and they’re heading to the dressing room. But Dongjun’s heart was still rained.
He’s in dilemma whether to ask Junyoung about it, or perhaps Heechul would be the best person to tell about. But before he could even decide, a big and warm hand poked his shoulder gently.
“Are you sick?” Someone asked.
Dongjun-a bit surprised-shook his head and smiled. “I’m okay, Junyoung hyung.”
“Really? You look…” Junyoung paused a while. “…weary.”
“I am not.” Dongjun forced a smile. My heart is.
“Come here.” Junyoung wrapped the younger boy’s palms tight and pulled him into his embrace. “Good job, Dongjun. I am so proud of you. I’m sure you’re very tired because of your musical, but you did a great job. Especially when your voice harmonized mine.” He whispered.
Dongjun bites his lower lips. Is it real? Is this hug real?
“Hyung, can I ask you something?” Dongjun asked, not sure with his own question.
“Sure, anything.”
“Do you still…” Dongjun asked, somehow he’s afraid to hear the answer. “…do you still love me?”
Dongjun looked away after he said that, he’s embarrassed and afraid at the same time. He should find a hole now, he couldn’t look at Junyoung’s face. Especially when he remained silent and not answering.
“Do I have to answer this, Kim Dongjun?” Junyoung asked.
Pabo Dongjun. “No, of course not.” Dongjun tried to laugh, but his voice somehow stuck and it sounded horrible. “Just forget my question, hyung. I should change my clothes now.” Dongjun released Junyoung’s hand and stood up. The rough yet warm hand that he loved so much.
“Dongjunnie.” Junyoung reached out the maknae’s arm and pulled him, once again, to his embrace.
“I thought I told you the answer already on stage, but that’s okay, I’ll sing it for you once again.”
“Hazusenai mune no KUROSU ni kizanda sono namae. Baby you're my love”
Junyoung sang the part that made Dongjun’s eyes glued on him before. His voice was heaven for him. Dongjun didn’t know how to describe it with other words.
“Do you know what it means?” Junyoung whispered.
The latter shook his head and made Junyoung giggled.
“Yah, you should have learned more Japanese words beside ‘gohan tabeta’…” Junyoung said while messed the maknae’s hair. “Let me tell you what it means.”
“I can't take it off, this cross on my chest with your name engraved on it. Dongjun-ah, you're my love.” Junyoung said it really slowly; he gazed into the maknae’s eyes and kissed the back of his hand. “If you still don’t understand it, well, ‘Aishiteru’, Kim Dongjun.”
Dongjun startled by Junyoung’s words. He could feel all his worries now gone, they’re eased by the warmth Junyoung gave to him.
“One more question hyung,” Dongjun said. “Can I still call you mine?”
Junyoung simpered and pecked on Dongjun’s cheek. “I am always yours. I don’t know what makes you doubt me but, you are my ‘Ichigo Ichie’.”
Dongjun blushed and smiled shyly. Now all the dark cloud in his mind has gone. Junyoung was right. He shouldn’t doubt him.
“Hyung…”
“Yes?”
Dongjun kissed his lips in a speed of light and grinned. “Aishiteru, Moon Junyoung. Forever.”
