I think I've got it figured out. I just needed more info on how to install Java and also more info on how to use DOS. I didn't even know what I needed to know was DOS, but now I'm reading about it, it has the kind of stuff I needed to know. I think I'm good to go now, the actual Java looks easy. I want to program...or rather, I want programs that don't exist, so I'll make them myself...so why NOT Java? It's what everyone seems to use, it's easy, it's similar to languages I already know, and it's really easy to get a free Java compiler and money IS a factor. So it's slow...but it promises it will get fast real soon. Also the logo and name give me warm fuzzies.
Hm, interesting problem. Perhaps a more basic Java book? Since what you need is a more basic and thorough description of things relating to Java work, but not the stupid-basic computer stuff..
