O good grief!!

Yesterday evening I was called by someone at Oxfam offering me the job - I didn't reply straight away as I would like to know a few more things and it's a big decision especaially since it's in Oxford.

Today I recieved an email saying that I had NOT been successful!

this really doesn't fill me with much confidence about the

jobs

Ring them and ask what's going on. If the email was right, no harm done and they should investigate (and depending on what was said it may be legally binding though obv you'd have hard time he said/she said). If the email was wrong, and they're offering you a job 1) you might want it 2) it'll make you look unprofessional for future applications if they remember you simply never got back to them

Oxford's a really lovely city - nice place to live (my sister was at uni there and has been there the two years since, just outside the centre) and close to london/easy to get there. It takes about 3 hours to get from manchester to oxford. It's a bit more expensive to live in than manchester but not extortionate.

How long could you wait for a job you really want to do?
Is this a job you'd do if it was in Manchester?
Is it likely you'll find a job you really want to do in the time you can manage without?

It's never easy deciding to go somewhere else.

That sounds slightly bizarre!

But yay you for getting the job :0). What is the job doing?

"Supporter realtions assistant" - otherwise known as customer services.
answering phone calls, writing thank you letters, taking donations, data entry ...

main problem was that it wasn't the most inspiring of interviews - i went in feeling really excited but came out quite negative and ambivalent about it all.

not being accepted would have been so much easier!

Doesn't sound like the most fun job in the world :0S. Would it probably lead to something that you'd feel happier with?

I think you should trust your gut feeling on it, if it says nay don't go for it.

hurrah for getting it. I quite liked Oxford when I went, seemed like a nice place to live in.

Well done for getting the job. Are you waiting to hear from any others that would influence your decision?
