I think I'm basically going to give up the job hunt until september. Don't have time to do good applications whilst also getting on with dissertation work, so it's time to focus.

Just hope people give me a break from the "what are you doing NEXT?" questions, since "I don't know, I'm focusing on my MSc" doesn't ever seem to be an acceptable answer

That's perfectly acceptable! Sometimes it's necessary to take each day as it comes, or else you end up not giving due care to the present because you're so distracted by the future. Best of luck!
