Are you taking a Victorian Literature course? Lots of those authors fall into that category...I've read many of those authors but only a few of those books. I believe Elizabeth Gaskell also wrote Cranford, right? I really liked Cranford in spite of the simple plot. A.S. Byatt, if you haven't read before, is garrulous but intelligent. She thinks she's (I'm pretty sure it's a she) very intelligent though and likes to prove it, thus the loquacity. Despite this, I thought Posession, which I've read, was a very good book and the movie bloody sucked. Jane Eyre is good, but dark. If you like it pick up Villette, similar. I've never read Dickens and I'm sad about it. Really liked Hitchhiker's Guide :) and The Once and Future King I read a long time ago and I believe enjoyed. I'm sure you'll like it. It's also mentioned at the end of X2 which I just rewatched and which brings me to my next thing
