Ian, my New Year's resolution is to do some more traveling. I know that you have eight weeks off in the summer, so I propose a random weekend trip. I'll match that with the suggestion we make it to a city or town neither of us has ever been before. As for me, I've never really toured St. Louis, the airport notwithstanding.
As for consumerism, I will take that into account and try to go more of the gift card route for you as you travel in the future. I'm just glad your trying to get rid of material goods is out of a desire to move around a lot, and not a living estate sale borne of terminal illness.
I'm right with you on the reading one. People think that because I'm a librarian I must just sit around and read all day but that's totally not the case at all! I get an hour a day to read on my lunch breaks and that's about all I have time for. It's a good thing I like to read YA or I'd never finish any books at that pace! I haven't the faintest idea how people manage to be on award committees where you have to read like 50 books in just a few weeks while still working full time.
yeah i know what you mean. I probably read significantly less since I've started working at the library. I'd like to think were disproving the old stereotype about what it is librarians do! :)
