It's July 15th and it's time for round 5 of Ask the Maker! here at icon_talkHere you'll get the chance to ask icon makers who sign up questions about their icons and other graphics. You can ask for tutorials, guides/"How to", or ask any other questions regarding their work so the makers can compile a Q&A post with the answers to all the questions they get ( Read more... )

Since I am unable to icon at all at the moment, maybe writing a tutorial or two will make me feel less sad.

What can we request from you (tutorials, Q&A, guides etc. .PSDs are not allowed: I am really lazy when it comes to saving my .psd files now because I use too much variations and I work in crazy stages and steps so I end up having to save at least three psd files per icon anyway; so it is a risk to request for a specific icon, but I can do my best. Guides and stuff are always a go as well.
Can we hotlink your icons?: Go right ahead.

Maybe some sort of a text guide? I know you've made one before with your previous account, but I'd love an updated version. :)

So seconding a text guide!! I'm particularly interested in how you use the text transform tools.

So sad to hear about those Internet issues that prevent you from iconing .__.

At your service!

Let me know if you have more questions about the warp section though. I wasn't sure what to put in it so I'm a little concerned I won't have answered any questions you had in mind. :-/

A guide on how you achieve slightly extreme but awesome colouring like this would be lovely! :D Okay, I know the Stiles one isnt extreme but I love how saturated it is!

If it's possible at all I'd love tutorials for these Regina icons. I understand if you can't, though, and even one would be EPIC. ♥

Hm. I don't have the psd files for any of these, but I can definitely re-create, at the very least, the first icon for you. It won't be exactly the same, but the general process will be as similar as I can make it! :)

Were there in particular aspects of the other two that caught your interest though? Even if I can't give the step-by-step process, I might be able to share what you might do to achieve this or that, if you'd like.

Thanks very much!

On #2, I love the natural coloring. It's so pretty. It also looks like you used a little topaz. I could be wrong, of course, since I know nothing about topaz, lol. But if you DID, I wanted to know a bit about that.

On #3, I just loved everything about it. The crop, contrast, lighting, and sharpening are perfect.

Is it possible for you to make a guide or write some tips on B&W icons?

So possible, I've already done it: here! :D

But if you have any other questions that the guide doesn't answer, feel free to hit me up, okay? ♥
