It's time for our third round of Ask the Maker!

Here you'll get the chance to ask icon makers who sign up, questions about their icons and other graphics. You can ask for tutorials, guides/"How to", or ask any other questions regarding their work so the makers can compile a Q&A post with the answers to all the questions they get. As always, .PSD

I'd love to know how you work with textures! How do you pick them out, what are your favorite ways to use them on an icon, any ones you use a lot... just any tips you have!

I usually pick the textures by the color and how they'll work with the composition I want to achieve. The textures I use most are from lookslikerain @ soaked and deny1984 @ midnight-road. I usually use a lot of sets I make since most texture sets I make are aiming to meet any composition need I have in the moment. Hope it helps. :)

I can't remember if I've asked you this before but how do you do a good closeup icon?, I can never seem to pull one off very good. Is the secret in the cropping?.

For all my crops I use the influence I have for being a photographer and how I work with photography.

When I want to explore a small feature of the face I use more closer crops like this two:
