Icon tutorial

This is my very first tutorial ever! So please be nice :)

I was making an icon, I'll show you how to get from this to
this.

Very easy, you'll see :D



First take you image. [I chose this one from Kevin Covais who was one of the contestants on American Idol][cap by me]
Kevin [the love machine]

Resize it to 100x100 [I used 96x96] and then sharpen it once.


Duplicate your base and put it on Soft Light 100%, Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur >> 1.5


Then duplicate your base again and put it to Screen 70%


Fill a new layer with black #000000 and put the blend mode to color 70%


I put this gradient lighten 100%



Then I used this line in screen 64%



We have to add text, so I used the font Gill Sans MT Condensed in 10 px


Let's add something more, a brush made by ewanism, put it to screen 100%



Finally we only need a border, so take this image and put it to screen 100%



And that's all :) we now have this:
