Hello,
I am fairly new to making icons. I would love some advice. I really want to know how my cropping looks and how textures are flowing with the photos and and text. I also just want to make sure that the 100x100 is right to. Thanks!

In this case, I think I would ease off on the textures and focus more on coloring and text placement. Textures are kind of a 50-50 deal--sometimes, they enhance the icon, but a lot of times, they're not really needed. Like that fourth icon, the anime one. That's an awesome crop, and what might be pretty coloring--but those textures are awfully distracting.

As for text, well, for now, only use it if it's really, absolutely needed. The second icon, Sailor Moon, is it? The text isn't really necessary, and I would push that crop a little more to the right, throw it off-center, and give it a little more open space. Then maybe I would think about text.

Practice coloring first. Learn a pretty technique that doesn't involve a texture (I see you're a member of icon_tutorial, take a look in their memories), practice it on different images, make some simple but pretty icons. Move on from there ( ... )
