Haha, yeah. It's a bit...dark. The original try at iconning that screencap looked like this which...isn't much better. I think it is just a dud cap, to be honest.

Haha, don't know, the cap is pretty, but it's also very dark and looks difficult to work with, honestly.
Perhaps you can work on the original cap in another canvas, and then paste the new silhouette above the gorgeous background of this icon?
I think a slightly further crop might help here.

to be honest, I had to look at the original screencap to see Dean xP but I actually really like the coloring & the effect on the left side!
Personally, I'd probably remove his hand so there's only Dean's profile left and just go from there. But I guess I just have the tendency to cut out everything/remove the background in every single icon I make ;)

That's actually not a bad idea, honestly. It would make a killer minimalistic icon if done correctly. I dunno if my cut out skills are quite up to that caliber, but I might give it a go. :D

yk, sometimes when I'm lazy I just cut out ~messily and hope it looks better after resizing ;) and I think with this cap it wouldn't even have to be that neat, maybe a few light blobs over the edges of his face and tada!

Oh my, I think I made it worse, haha!

I kept the funky background (and made the original hand part of the textured background as well), and then I went back to the original screencap, messed with the coloring a little, and cut it out. See? Ahahaha. Maybe I'll enter it at theskilltester's 'bad icon' challenge. XD

I kinda agree with some of the others; it does make a really pretty texture! But, yeah, that cap does seem really hard to work with O.O

*sigh* I hate it when you have a cap you absolutely must work with but cannot make anything out of it.
