1)Make a new curves layer and use the following settings,

you may not get the exact same results as me,
when it comes to the curves, but hey these are basically just guidelines.

2)Duplicate your curves layer and set it to softlight.
this gives the icon more contrast.

3)Make a new layer and fill it with a black/white gradient.
I set the layer to softlight 35% opacity.
This step also gives the icon a bit more contrast.

4)Open up a new layer and flood fill it with #dec9b4.
Set the layer to lighten 10%. Though you may need to change the opacity some more.
It all depends on your base. Because remember a tutorial is not meant to be followed to the letter.

5)Make a new selective coloring layer and use the following settings,
REDS:-6,7,-40,0
YELLOWS:0,0,2,0
You may need to adjust the layers opacity, depending on your base.

6)Make a colorblance layer and use the following settings,
MIDTONES:35,0,-9
SHADOWS:10,0,2
And again adjust the opacity as needed for your base.

7)Open a new layer and grab yourself a brush.
Make a brush mark on your icon with the color white, and set the layer to
Screen 20%. Adjust the opacity as needed.

8)Make yourself a new selective coloring layer.
We are going too use this layer too bring out the blacks in the image.
Because other wise the icon is rather boring.
BLACKS;0,0,+100.
Duplicate this layer one time. The black wasn't intense enough for me.
Keep in mind, that you may not actually have to duplicate this layer for your icon.
It all depends on your image.

9)Take
from pale_septembre,
and set the layer to Screen 15% and the Fill to 40%.
Again adjust the opacity as needed. All this layer does, it brighten up the icon a bit.

10)Next were going too take
made by me. And set the layer too softlight 40%. You can skip this step if you like, its not all that important too the icon. I just used it, too add a bit of something too my icon.

11)And finally we need to make a brightness/contrast layer.
I felt that my icon didn't have enough contrast, and frankly looked rather washed out.
So I bumped up my contrast, and lowered my brightness slightly.
BRIGHTNESS: -8
CONTRAST:+80.
Your settings may vary though. Please do remember to keep that in mind. Because a plus eighty contrast might just be too high for your icon. Its all about experimentation. And now we are done!

Don't ask for a psd please.
I won't give it out, the tutorial is simple enough.
And I hope you enjoyed it :].
