(Yes, if you recognize this cap you'll notice I've rotated it ninety degrees, but that's not an essential part of the tutorial, so let's skip it)

1) The simple. Crop and scale your image. I have this:

2) Add layers of screen - however many you want. I tend to go a bit overboard, but the image should be fairly light before the next step.

3) Duplicate base layer and set to soft light. This gives us more contrast and generally a better looking base.

4) Create new layer, fill with a dark brown. I used #473e2c. Set to difference, %50.

5) Now, we want to offset the blue/magenta tones in the highlights that come with using difference. So create a layer filled with light green, and set it to multiply at a low opacity - somewhere between 20 and 40 percent. I used #bfffd1

6) Now we've gone a bit to far, and it looks too green. So create a new layer of light pink, and set that to soft light, 50%. I used #ffbfbf.

7) You could probably finish the icon there if you really wanted to. However, if you're like and want to make it warmer, duplicate that layer of pink. Change the setting to burn, keeping the opacity on %50. You're done!
