Hiya! I figured out how to make the dark icons sotospeak, and I wrote a tutorial.

in a few easy steps.
We're gonna be using this base of Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen. (TEAM OLSEN > TEAM HILTON. :P)
Duplicate the layer, desaturate it, and set it to soft light. (We're gonna be doing this a lot.)
Create a new layer, fill it in with a dark blue color (I used #1B2133) and set it to
exclusion.
Now, create a new layer and fill it in with this gradient. Set the layer to multiply (I
have no idea who made it. If anyone can comment and let me know, I'll love you
forever. :])
Finally, duplicate the base layer twice and set it to soft light, desaturated. Drag them to the top and you're done!
