coloring/antique look tutorial tonight. we'll be going from

to

1. first, crop your base to 100x100 pixels. (since this is mainly a coloring tut, you can crop it to any size that tickles your fancy)

2. sharpen once. duplicate the layer, set it to screen. merge all. desaturate the image, and go over the skin with the blur tool, set on size 6px, strength 35%.

3. go to brightness/contrast, with brightness 15, and contrast 50.

4. add a new layer on top of everything, flood fill with #2F2208. set this layer on multiply, 43%. merge all layers. go to brightness/contrast again, this time leaving the brightness and changing the contrast to 47.

5. select the whole 100x100px image with the marquee tool, and nudge it up 3px. make a new layer, select the bottom 3px with the marquee tool. flood fill this selection with #EFE9DC (taken from Harry's face). you can add text or whatever you like to the image at this point. done!

note: please don't copy this tut word for word, be creative!
