We're going to go from this to

This tutorial is for photoshop.
1.Crop and resize your image into a base.

1.Create a new layer and set #89D0F5 to Colorburn 100%

2.Create a new layer and set #DDA2D0 to Softlight 100%

3.Create a new layer and set #D8AA93 to Overlay 100%

4.Duplicate the base and set it on top of everything. Sharpen the icon and lower the opacity. I typically set mine to 50%

5.Add some kind of brush vertically on the icon. I used one from my_givenchy.

6.Then I added some random shapes using various colors taken from the icon itself, added text (Sylfaen, which I rotated slightly) and viola!

The coloring on this tutorial works very well for images with many white spaces as well as for if you wish to brighten up an image slightly. Here are some examples of icons I've made using the coloring from this tutorial.

- I like how the coloring doesn't turn the white in the image into some ugly brown shade like most tutorials do.

- This is with a black and white image with a round pink brush set to screen.
