This isn't my first icon tutorial but it is my first icon tutorial posted to the public, I hope it isn't to confusing.
from this:
> to this:
Made in Photoshop 7 in just 8 steps.
STEP ONE
This is the base I started off with, it's 96x96 because I make more MSN icons than anything therefor no border either.
Sharpen if you'd like but I prefered not to.
STEP TWO
To lighten I went to:
Image > Adjustments > Auto Color
STEP THREE
Duplicating the base, I set it to screen at 44%
STEP FOUR
Since I used curves and it'd be a pain to try and get the same marks as I,
HERE is the download for the curve's preset I made.
Just put it in your Photoshop folder within your program files. When choosing curves click "load" then select the file then okay.
STEP FIVE
Apply the "Hue / Saturation" adjustment layer, Put the settings on:
HUE: -5
SATURATION: +43
LIGHTNESS: 0
STEP SIX
Apply the "Selective Color" adjustment layer, Put the settings on:
REDS: +3, 0, 0, 0
YELLOWS: +83, +9, -100, -33
GREENS: +19, +23, +19, -80
CYANS: +42, -12, -88, -69
BLUES: +67, 0, -29, 0
MAGENTAS: +39, +32, +50, -12
NEUTRALS: -37, +21, +7, -26
STEP SEVEN
Add this Icon Overlay, Invert it, Set to Screen.
Made by:
Unmasked_Icons STEP EIGHT
Create a fill layer with this color #72E5F6, Set it to color burn.
FINAL PRODUCT
Add the text you'd like, Here was my final product.
