(1) Start with the original image. Don't resize it yet.

(2) Duplicate the layer and get it to screen, opacity at 66%.

(3) Adjust the saturation (Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation) to +30.

(4) Create a selective colour layer (Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Colour) and use the following settings:
Reds
cyan: +4
magenta: +71
yellow: -22

Yellows
cyan: -24
magenta: -9
yellow: -18

(5) Create another selective colour layer and use these settings:
Neutrals
cyan: +28
magenta: +33
yellow: +12

Set the opacity of this one to 50%.

(6) Fill (Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Colour) a new layer with #d3a8ce, set the layer to soft light at 25%.

(7) Flatten the image, resize, crop, etc. Paste this texture from peoplemachines on top of everything and set it to screen and flatten the image again. That's it!

Note: your icon will most likely not look like the one I made because of selective colouring. Just play around with the levels until you get the hue you like. If you have any questions, ask. :)
