1- Crop your image. 100x100 (in case of icons like this one. But you can use this tutorial for anything you want)


2- If you have more then one layer, merge them all.

3- Duplicate your base and set it to screen 100%

->

4-Now go to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Curves

Output - 135



5- Go back to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Curves
Input - 115
Output - 85



6- Go to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer ->Selective Color

Reds
Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow +100
Black 0

Yellows
Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow -100
Black 0

Neutrals
Cyan +42
Magenta -18
Yellow -15
Black 0



7- Back to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer ->Selective Color

Reds
Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow +100
Black 0

Yellows
Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow +100
Black 0

Neutrals
Cyan +7
Magenta +11
Yellow +16
Black 0



8-Go now to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer ->Hue/Saturation

Saturation +23



9- Now Layer -> New Adjustment Layer ->Brightness/Contrast

Brightness +6
Contrast -4



10- Layer-> New Adjustment Layer ->Curves

Input-106
Output-123



11- Once more Layer-> New Adjustment Layer ->Curves

Output-91



12-You'll get something like this.
Now is all your choice..you can leave it like this or you can add some pretty brushes. ^^
