bruffting asked me to do a tutorial for the colouring on this icon.
i tried to recreate it and this is what i came up with. :]

from:
to:

made with photoshop 7.0, including selective coloring.

1. Crop your base and all that stuff, but DO NOT sharpen it!
2. Duplicate your base and set it on screen, opacity 80%.
3. Create a new levels layer (Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Levels) with the following settings:
RGB
i: 35, 0,97, 255
o: 0, 255
Set it to Normal on 100%.
4. New Colorfill Layer: #CEECF6, set to Colorburn on 100%
5. New Selective Color Layer. Put the settings like this:
Reds:
-100, 0, 58, 0
Yellow:
-31, 0, -53, 0
Greens:
100, 100, -100, 100
Magentas:
-100, 100, -100, 100
Whites:
100, 0, -41, 0
Set it to Normal on 100%.
6. New Hue/Saturation Layer.
0, +10, 0
Set it to Normal on 100%.
7. New Colorfill Layer: #EDEDED, set it to Multiply on 100%.

Flatten the layers & you're finished!
Remember to play with the settings because they look different on every single picture.
I'd love to see your results. :]
