Go from this:
to this:

in Adobe Photoshop CS2, using selective coloring and color balance.


Step One
Take your base and crop.


Step Two
Apply a screen layer. I only used one, you might want/need to use two or more.


Step Three
New selective color layer:
R: -100, 0, +16, +15
Y: 0, 0, -68, -15
W: 0, 0, 0, -100
N: 0, 0, -24, +21
B: 0, 0, 0, +100


Step Four
New color balance layer:
Midtones: -10, +23, +25
Shadows: -13, +11, +10
Highlights: -12, -21, -11


And you're finished!
