How to go from:

This:
to this:
or this:

Program: Photoshop 7
Not Translatable.
Uses Selective Colouring.

Okay, so get your base. This is mine:

This tutorial works best if you use a red/orange coloured base.

Duplicate your base and set it to screen.

Make a new Selective Colouring layer.
(Yes, I know, I spell it 'colouring'.. I'm Canadian XD)

Reds: +100, +34, 0, 0
Yellows: 0, -33, -66, -97
Neutrals: +57, +26, -3, +2

Add another selective colouring layer.

Reds: -95, +27, +41, +4
Neutrals: +100, +23, 0, +16

Now you can stop there, or you can copy merged layers,
(ctrl+a then shift+ctrl+c)
And paste it on top, setting it to soft light, giving you:

Merge all your layers, then duplicate and sharpen.
Lower the opacity of the sharpened layer if it comes out too sharp, and voila!

All done:

You can add text or brushes or whatever now.
