How to go
from     to

+ 6 steps
+ using PSCS2
+ not translatable
+ selective colouring, colour balance, curves

Un _ Take your base and blah blah blah. On this one I just cropped it, no sharpening nor automatic contrast (which can be really efficient).

Open a new Curve layer (Layer > New adjustment layer > Curves). This will brighten up the image. My settings are :
- RGB : new point : I : 87 ; O : 149
I just played around for this step :)

Deux _ Brightening up means washing out the colours. We'll see that later. For the moment, open a new selective colouring layer (Layer > New adjustment layer > Selective colours). My settings are :
- Reds : -100, 0, +31, 0
- Yellows : + 17, 0, -100, 0
- Cyans : +100, 0, -100, 0
- Neutrals : +31, +8, -10, 0

Okay, let me explain. I'm taking off all the yellows/reds because I'm planning on increasing them soon. Thing is that pictures are often too yellow or too red and it's hard to work with them since they're all over the image. This way, we'll add up just what we need.

~>

Trois_ Colour balance ! Let's add some contrast with it (Layer > New adjustement layer > Colour balance). Tick the luminosity thing. THIS IS IMPORTANT. My settings :
- Shadows : +4, 0, +30
- Midtones : -11, -9, -29
- Highlights : -6, 0, 0

I often add up one colour somewhere and take it off elsewhere. It gives nice contrast.

Quatre _ My precious ! The dark brown (#1c1003) exclusion layer ! (Layer > New fill  layer > Solid colour).

~>

Cinq _ The second selective colouring.
- Reds : -100, +15, 0, -9
- Yellows : +41, -14, -62, 0
- Cyans : +100, 0, 0, 0
- Blues : +100, 0, 0, 0
- Neutrals : +22, +18, +39

See ? Much more colourful now but not yellowish all around.

~>

Six _ Last step ! Colour balance again. Tick the thing.
- Shadows : 0, 0, +19
- Midtones : 0, 0, -34
- Highlights : 0, 0, -15

~>

And that's it !
