And now I have to find a quiet private space where I can cry over losing someone I never met but who mattered enormously. I already did that once this year.

God. Damn. It.

I'm not even sure we DESERVED all that Prince gave us.

This is a really devastating year, artistically and culturally. We were chatting today about the enormous catalog of material he created but has not released and are hoping that it will be brought out for everyone to share, even if it is doled out slowly over time for the next few generations. he was a fountain of music and creativity. So many artists had songs in their catalogs that were written by him.

I only learned of his passing about an hour ago, so it has not fully sunk in for me yet.

I'm a Minneapolis girl. I lived within bike-ride distance from his house. I don't really have the words to explain why this is a personal loss as well as a loss to the world.

This is just... devastating, on so many levels.
