uhhh was the howler sent to petunia in the first book? i thought it was in some later book in order to force the dursleys to allow harry to remain in their home. if it was in a later book, then the 'last letter' could refer to the letter dumbledore left with the infant harry at the dursley's doorstep in the first book. i think it's less likely that petunia was sent a letter because she used to be a witch considering that she complained about how her sister got attention for being a witch and also how her sister was a freak. *shrug* who knows.. o_O
Doh, I meant that. The Howler does say remember my last letter, not previous letter, last letter referring to the letter in the first book. I stand slightly corrected. But quothe Rowling: So: Dumbledore is referring to his last letter, which means, of course, the letter he left upon the Dursleys' doorstep when Harry was one year old. But why then (you may well ask) did he not just say 'remember my letter?' Why did he say my last letter? Why, obviously because there were letters before that…
I agree with your Snape theory. But maybe we're just both optimists :) I want to believe that Dumbledore died for a higher reason.. and this would fit with that.
Uhh if Harry is the last Horcrux, wouldn't that mean he would have to kill himself before anyone else can kill Voldemort?
