1_million_words for the prompt: When a group takes up the entire sidewalk as they walk.
"Do your bloody li'l pets always walk so slow?"
Angel cuffed Spike on the back of the head, earning a half-hearted growl from the blonde.
"They’re not walking that slow. And they're not my pets, Spike."
"Look at 'em! Spread out across the entire bloody sidewalk and lollygagging about like there ain't a chance of demons lurkin' round any ol' corner. Can't even step around 'em, less I wanna walk in the soddin' road. Which in this city, not a bloody chance!"
Angel rolled his eyes with a soft groan at Spike’s incessant complaining and grabbed the younger vampire’s arm. Pushing him against the brick wall of the nearest building, he waited till the group of humans had wandered further away before addressing his snarling Childe.
"Maybe they were doing me a favor, Spike, hmm?" Spike looked up at Angel in confusion. "Maybe I wanted, just for once, to enjoy a leisurely stroll through one of the quieter parts of town, Childe. Think. Did we bring any weapons? Anything suggesting we were heading out on a mission?"
Spike sagged in Angel's grip, lips pursing in a petulant frown as realization dawned.
"Maybe I just wanted my family to have a nice, quiet night out for once. Did you even think before you started complaining?"
"Sorry, Sire. Just…you know I can't stand havin' to go at their pace. 'M a vampire, yeah? Like to move fast, not dawdle down the bloody street like some sightseer; unless I'm on the hunt, anyways."
Angel clucked his tongue in feigned annoyance and leaned in to nuzzle at the curve of Spike’s jaw, his nose brushing over the skin lighty and eliciting a shiver of pleasure from the vampire in his grasp.
"Are you done whining now, little one? Can we carry on with our pleasant evening in peace?"
"Yes, Sire", Spike gasped, voice slightly husky from the surge of arousal Angel's soft touches were awakening within him. "But…"
"No 'buts', Spike. We're going to keep their pace, have a nice little walk around the neighborhood, and enjoy the rest of the plans I've already made. Understood?"
Spike nodded, biting his tongue against the complaint running through his head.
Angel hummed contentedly, placed a chaste kiss below Spike’s ear, and stepped back from the slighter vampire, repressing a chuckle when he slumped slightly in disappointment at the unexpected departure of the hulking form that had been pressed so intimately against him.
"Behave for me tonight, and I'll make it worth your while when we get back to the penthouse, hmm?"
Spike growled hungrily at the promise, and nodded eagerly in acquiescence, falling in step beside Angel as they made to catch up to the others. He was still annoyed by having to slow his pace for the humans, but kept his mouth shut and let his mind wander, conjuring images of Angel paying out his debt for his good behavior.
