Update from Idaho

School has finally started.

Mr. C is ensconced back at the university teaching YA lit. Next week he has his class reading Lizzy Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary Schmidt, one of my favorite books of all time.

Catgirl has transferred from the charter school in town to our neighborhood school for sixth grade. She loves it. She has her own locker ( Read more... )

Glad to hear the good back to school news. I started The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake this summer, then was distracted by other books, but I liked it and plan to finish it very soon.

I love Lizzie Bright! I hope your husband enjoys teaching that book. I'm in desperate need of something fun to read, so thanks for suggesting My Life As a Book. And I can't believe I missed your birthday! Gah! Forgive me? I'll buy your tea next time we're out.

I'll loan you my copy of My Life As a Book. So cute -- think Wimpy Kid with a heart of gold, a kid who'll do anything to avoid summer reading.

No worries about the BD.
