My penguin vaporizer is my new best friend as the entire family is down with the flu, a reprise of last Christmas. Fortunately, most of the holiday shopping is done, a friend delivered a care package of apricot bars, and I have enough ginger and chamomile tea to last the month

I didn't forget about the contest. Laurie Schneider is a recurring character in my chapter book series. She's a third grade gymnastics enthusiast. Finally your name in a published book! Er, unless the editor doesn't like the name for some reason. But what's not to love! And, er, I don't know the pub date yet. But I think it'll be soon.

A recurring character? That's rich -- even if my name ends up on the cutting room floor. I used to want to be a voice on the Arthur cartoon. Is that weird, or what?
