I've been trying to find an article I read on the BBC (I think) in the winter about strange shipping containers showing up in the middle of the night of at coastal towns where all identifying markers have been removed and the containers lead orange smoke and within in a day everyone in the coastal village is sick and loosing preganacies and dying... and I'll be damned if I can find it again...

Pirates don't just happen, there is a reason for their piracy.

HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!! This is like fiction, but of course it's not because this same sort of psychotic shit keeps happening again and again throughout history.

I agree -- there are reasons, and they are more complex than merely "poverty" because that is just a symptom of much larger social violence.

I think it true that terrorism is in the eye of the beholder... or, the eye of the guilty party who doesn't want to admit to what they've done to inspire retaliation.
