Week One: Gerd Brisingamen
Meet Gerd. She is the child of Mary Dawes and Alcide Cooper from Chesterstead. Yep, I went and did a "toddler match making" (since I haven't played them further than childhood yet, heh). To me it made sense that Gerd, a child of a Knowledge-sim family, would be interested in leading a group of explorers. So, 100 years after Adam and Eve set foot in Chesterstead, their granddaughter Mary's daughter Gerd continues into the wildness west of Chesterstead.
A very small percentage of Gerd is werewolf, but the skin was one of the things she inherited. She is also part servo, from her grandmother on her mum's side, but it doesn't affect anything part from her skin.
I really love Gerd's face, but with the skin it's hard to see any specific traits from her parents.
We start the week off with a meeting in the garden. The residents have just arrived and after settling in at least a bit on their new lots, it's time to hang out over at Gerd's. In the background is Nanna and Balder Ringhorne. Together with Balder's brother Hoder, they live over at the lot they have named Breidablick. In front of them is Idun with her purple/pink eyes and Brage, her childhood friend.
Dark-haired Hel and her wife Freja might be very different on the outside, but together they make a formidable couple. Freja is a Plantsim, which at first scared her. But Gerd is trying to help her understand her condition. Freja has a brother, alien-skinned Frej. He is a bit shy and has a longing to one day become a father and make a family.
Ask and Embla are really the cute, just-married couple you'd picture them to be. With a longing for the outdoors and a life without the stress of the city, these two happily joined Gerd. They are a bit weary of their neighbours. They read the papers about Balder and Nanna and their celebrity life style and are trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but was it all really lies and gossip? Ask and Embla are having problems connecting to Freja and Hel; they might be a married couple, but they don't really share the values that Ask and Embla hold so dear. And with Embla's condition, they don't always feel comfortable around others.
Gerd's OTH is Music & Dance, which is actually the biggest interest in town. I feel that a Cultural Centre might be one of the first things to be built once the town's funds are high enough.
Well... With Brage's OTH being Tinkering, I made him the town's mechanical expert and Gerd had to become Best Friend with him in order to unlock electricity and water. Only problem is, they fell in love. Wouldn't been such a problem, if both Idun and Brage hadn't expressed interest in each other.
She also tried Hoder, but I eventually found out he doesn't swing that way.
By Sunday (day 7) electricity and running water is unlocked and Gerd can finally use a proper stove, and not have to eat hot dogs any more.
And as the first snow of the winter falls around her, Gerd heads to work. She's very happy with what has been achieved during this first autumn in Idavallen; electricity, running water and also new inhabitants as some of the couples have already had children!
