[series]: Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu
[character]: Satoshi
[character history / background]:
Here's a link for some tidbits that differ from the anime. Satoshi's adventure began one hot summer day after he snagged a wild Pikachu from the confines of his home. It had chewed on the wires inside Satoshi’s house’s walls, and so his mother nagged him to put the creature in a nearby forest. He was about to do such- that is, until his rival Shigeru strolled by, bragging about his newly obtained Pokémon Trainer’s License. With a fire in his eyes, Satoshi sat down, studied, obtained his very own license, and boldly sped out from Masara Town with an agitated Pikachu in his possession.
However, while on the way to Tokiwa City, his not-so-trained electrical mouse constantly tried him. It even ran off to coddle with a girl, Kasumi, who promptly argued with Satoshi as if she were his elder sister. His luck even managed to find Pikachu later harassing a group of Onisuzume, a group that was being watched over by an Onidrill. The two were fiercely attacked by the raging birds, but-!
Satoshi did not give up, and with the aid of Kasumi’s bike, he raced to a Pokémon Center to heal his wounded friend. In the end, he even captured the feared Onidrill and formed a stronger bond between he and his Pokémon.
After that mishap, Satoshi set out to collect the gym badges of the Kanto region and to participate in various competitions.
One competition in particular caught his eye mid-way through his journey: the Sekiei (Indigo) League. There he battled Hiroshi, but lost due to forfeiting the match. If he had not, his Lizardon would have killed his opponent's.
With a bitter defeat under him, the soon-to-be Pokémon Master left Kanto somewhat wiser and more mature than before. Yet his experiences weren't over by the least bit.
Next on his agenda was the beautiful Orange Islands, an array of land masses that were home to rare and strange Pokémon. It was on one of those particular islands that he caught a Kabigon, one that could leap from island-to-island. Additionally, he obtained the badges of the new region and participated in a Pokémon battle against the Orange Island's Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader, Yuuji. Through this victory, Satoshi became an (un)official Pokémon Champion.
Sometime later, he set off with his rival-- and yet friend-- Shigeru, and they began to travel around Johto in search of Lugia, the mystical Ocean God; thus ended the beginning of the tale of the world's greatest Pokémon Master!
[character abilities]:
Other than being able to ride a bike quite well and having a mean throwing arm thanks to constant Pokémon snagging, Satoshi doesn’t have any extraordinary abilities. He’s just an average ten-year-old strength-wise. However, in a Pokémon Battle, Satoshi is able to use abnormal things to his advantage: for instance, his victory that gained him the Blue Badge from Hanada City’s Gym Leader, Kasumi. By using Onidrill’s liking for soy sauce and dumplings, he was able to catch his hat back from her which was the set rule for winning. His quick thinking pulls him out of many dangers and has proved as an invaluable source of inspiration for other trainers alike.
[character personality]:
Satoshi, not too unlike his anime counter-part, is fairly out-spoken. He will often get into spouts with Kasumi over pretty much everything; however, in this particular series, the arguments usually revolve around a perverted subject. An example of this would be the chapter involving the evolutionary stones: the water stone, the fire stone, and the thunder stones, and how that instead of Kasumi-- a Gym Leader of Hanada City that accompanies Satoshi from time-to-time in his travels-- buying a water stone to evolve her Pokémon, Satoshi suggested that she needed something to make her chest evolve. Additionally, he has a bad habit of growing smitten with older, far more developed women-- women he’s only met for a few minutes, and he’s also rash when it comes to challenges, often biting off more than he can chew. In those instances, luck always seems to find him.
However, while he does have quite a few faults, he is a determined Pokémon Trainer-- a fact that is influenced by his wish to surpass his rival Shigeru and impress said rival’s sister-- with a heart bursting with boundless energy. Satoshi has traveled all over the region of Kanto in search of great adventures: events that will make him grow as a person and further reach his dream in becoming a professional Pokémon Master. Not only is he steady in his goal, but he is also caring of his Pokémon-- as seen in his efforts to make meals specially prepared for their picky tastes, and when he endangered his own life in order to save his badly harmed Pikachu from a raging Onidrill (Fearow). All of his efforts solidify that he also holds a great respect for his Pokémon, often trusting in their power during times of desperation.
In sum, he has keen determination and constant optimism, and no matter how hard a situation may seem, even if he himself is scared and unable to think of a next move, he will always believe that victory is close at hand.

[journal post]:
[A whistle, a sharp noise hinted with awe and tense apprehension, sounds. After a moment it fades, and a young boy's rather perplexed voice comes into play.]
Aw, man. I'm no expert, but I can tell I've gone way off course! Still, unless I fell asleep, and I was dragged across regions by some weird flyin' creature, I should be in that region-- in Johto. I'd look at a map, but my Pokédex is of no use since it's full of Kanto information only.
On top of that, I don't see Shigeru's slow behind- well, behind me, and... What!?
Not only all of this insane stuff, but my precious friends: my Pokémon are also gone!
[Satoshi's tone quickly drops from nervous to full-fledged panic.]
Pikachu, Lizardon, Onidrill, Fushigidane, Zenigame, Butterfree! [A low, sputtering emits from the now highly upset boy.]
W-where are you!? ...You, too, jerk-Shigeru! Stop playing and come on out!
[A stifling pause.]
Come on, stop it already; this isn't funny at all!
[third person / log sample]:
His foot-falls spreading the dusted ground beneath him, the adventurer marches on. Such is his fate to be thrown asunder, to a strange, new world. However, he has never experienced hardships alone-- without his trusted comrades. His shoulders feel light, and he dislikes the sensation more and more with each passing moment.
It isn't right, to not have his most trusted friend by his side.
By now, a soft "chuu" would have stirred his thoughts from a pessimistic path, but only empty air brushes against the interior of his ears and against his face.
"Man... if Shigeru saw me sulking and huffing around like this, I dunno whether he'd laugh or harass me until I smiled." The boy mumbles, hands clenching and releasing in a mind-dulling pattern.
Yet even though he is drenched in a sour mood at the scenery around him and the empty spaces about his belt, he finds a trickle of laughter in the words that just left his lips.
"He'd probably do both." Certainly, that was true. The two boys were similar to brothers in many ways. They had their fussing, spitting, arguments, but in the end, they respected each other.
He stills his walking for a moment, taking the time to look around him, breathing in the air.
"You know, maybe this place won't be so bad after all."
A found memory: the long striven for victory over the Orange Island's Leader wriggles its way into his darkened mind, splashing a ray of light to wipe away his depression; after a moment, the realization of how silly it is of him to think of this world as a place that would simply crush all his childish hope smacks the trainer in the gut like a Kabigon's hungry fist.
"Maybe-- yeah. ....Yeah! All these disadvantages are just more obstacles to becoming stronger! To becoming the world's greatest Pokémon Master!"
He boldly grins, the last bit of despair flying off behind him. After all, slouching about for long didn't suit his true nature: the bright, shining heart of a youth.
"That's gotta be it. And, hey, I might even find everyone if I look hard enough!"
After a tick, he throws his hat backwards, and his visage shifts into one that reads unyielding determination; then, with a racing heart, the boy dashes off into the unknown once more!
