Have a great Thanksgiving! Hang in there at work, times might be slow since we are close to the holidays, but things will get better. The next thing you know, everything will all be due at the same time and you will be crazy busy.
Strange that they don't know what to do w/ you -- they'll figure it out (and then you'll be forever slammed). Surprised an AE lets a client sit on comps for weeks on end...
Strange that the floor would contract that much -- it's a humidity thing IIRC. I assume it's not edge glued or click-lock? You can expect it to expand again when the weather gets humid / warm. I'd also expect them to seriously consider pulling baseboards since there may not be enough under there...
When the guys came back to fix it, they were doing some edge gluing to prevent separation in the middle of the floor. They also said that some of them had come unhooked. They were tongue and groove, but nothing really strong in terms of the "locking." During the install, they left about a quarter inch around the perimeter for expansion, but it was during the hottest time of the year.
The other thing that irks me a bit is the gaps that have appeared in some corners on the baseboards and crown. I'm chalking it up to some contraction and a recent earthquake. I'll wait until it gets coldest and either add some wood fill and sand/paint again or caulk (to allow for some movement year-round).
And yes, our AEs (we've only got 2) have their hands full with a few of our larger clients and let the smaller (and occasionally freebie) work go to the wayside.

Hope your floors get taken care of, too!

And I agree - have a cool t-day.
