Yeay, Playing Catch-Up!

Okay, so my body decided to be super nice to me this week. Not only did I drop the 2 pounds I should have last week, and 2 for this week, but I got a bonus 2! So I'm down 6 this week! Ah, wouldn't it rock if all weeks were this way? Which means at 282 I'm now down my first 20lbs since May ( Read more... )

I checked out this book from the library, "3 fat chicks on a diet" and they basically review popular diets. They have a website, 3fatchicks.com that has more up to date info including people posting on their free forum about Alli. Eh, you basically have to take Alli the rest of your life to "maintain." No, thanks! I find their forum very inspiring though. To see before and after pics of people is really motivating for me. I haven't created an account yet but was thinking about it.

I already have an account on there and post under the same user name as this one, but thanks!

Yeah, Alli isn't for me either at this point, but I do route for my friends who took that option.

Sometimes some people feel they need all the help they can get... even if it's only a tiny help. You don't have to take it for the rest of your life BTW but you do have to adjust what you do after taking them to expect the same calorie deficit as you had when taking them, which isn't a whole lot.

I think the real benefit it to people who were eatting way too much fat before because it forces them to think about fat intake or suffer consequences! For me I already eat between 15-20 so it wouldn't do much for me except empty my wallet, as Alli only absorbs about 1/4 of the suggested 45 grams a day so about about 100 calories a day. Expensive if you ask me, but I don't judge those who decide to try it.

I haven't read the literature from Alli but my friend who has it said it's in there about taking the pill to maintain. I would imagine it's for those who have trouble maintaining without it. Yes, I agree it forces people to look at their fat content but I hate the idea that people attach so much hope to a "magic pill." Sigh.

Bah, that's because they want you to keep taking the pill because they make money off of it.

Problem is most people come off a "magic pill" and think they can go back to what they were doing so of course you'll gain it back, but if taking it teaches you to make more wise choices then you should be able to go it on your own taking in account you'll have to account for those 100 or so calories a day Alli was helping you not absorb. (But at maintenece most people can add back in a few hundred calories so it might not matter)

Let me know how your friend does... I'm curious but too cheap to spend that much money when I can accomplish the same 100 calorie defict on my own for way cheaper! :)

The magic pill mentality is what screwes up so many people.

Yeah, I weigh daily because I'm impatient, but I know I should really do it every week or every other week even. I only record it once a week though. It is definately the evil pusher, but I can't bare not knowing ( ... )
