I was going to say that you don't really have to include women in your headcount for food until the "This is a group of women who will eat, if you know what I mean" part! So I really don't know what you mean, but it certainly sounds like you've planned for plenty! Kids will scarf down fruit and crackers, so beef up those defenses and it sounds like you're golden!
About 10 of the women who will be at this shower on Saturday came to a party at my house two weeks ago. Our party was scheduled for 7pm, AFTER the dinner hour, and we managed to run out of food. Twice. And we had TONS of food at the party. Granted, there were a lot more people at our party, but seriously...we had to run to chick-fil-a twice to get platters and I recreated a couple of dishes because the food went so fast.
I think my friends don't eat for two days before coming to a party I'm throwing. Seriously. :-)
And you're right about the fruit. I forgot about kids and fruit. Thanks for the reminder!
Meatballs are always the first thing to go at my parties. I think I could make 8 tons of meatballs and they would still be pretty much inhaled on sight. Meatballs, however, don't exactly scream "classy party" so failing that, I'd go with cheese!
We didn't even wind up touching the cake at my bridal shower. I wound up being sent home with it and repurposed it for a Halloween-esque gathering that evening. But we made SOO much food and even though everyone ate a hefty amount, we had so much left over.
I have this problem every time I have people over, so I can relate. If it'll make you feel better, go ahead and get some nice store-bought cookies or something. You can always eat them later. :)
What about slices of French bread and artichoke/cheese/spinach dip? Or stuffed mushrooms? If you go to Costco, there are a lot of lovely appetizer-ish frozen or refrigerated dishes that sound like they would go well with your current spread (which sounds delicious, btw :-)).
I personally would do a bit more, I think. Although, I must admit that 1) I LOVE "shower food"--so I wouldn't mind leftovers, 2) I don't have THAT much experience hostessing, and 3) I always like to have more food than necessary. :-)
