Alan Stang's article on the U. S. and Hitler (interesting)

Americans love the Hitler system. That must be the case, because we are presently installing it, even more thoroughly than he did. Many of us were raised with the idea that the United States hated Nazis even more than the Klan. After all, didn't we fight a bloody war to defeat them? We've learned since that we fought Nazi Germany for so many years ( Read more... )

I think one of the reasons that Canadians are so ocncerned about American trends is that we often tend to follow suit.

Traditionally we're not much by way of being flag wavers so I'd like to hope that guy was just a crack pot.

I also think that tourists are not a good reflection of the mainstay representing any given country.

We get a lot of Americans up here in July with skis looking for snow, but we know they don't represent the average.

I think the average canadian was completely shocked when Bush got by on an invalid vote in Florida and that there was such a lack of repurcussion about it.

Since that happened, the perception here is that the Government is not even remotely accountable to it's people.

Most aren't, but when they flaunt it so obviously its a bit troubling.

That said, I don't like our PM very much either so I seperate the American public from it's leaders.

I wouldn't want anyone lumping me in with the likes of Paul Martin.

I'm sorry for going off on your friend like that in your journal. I just woke up and haven't even had my coffee when I read her deep insults. I got pissed, that's all. Reading that kind of just set me off. Again, my apologies, but she was getting rather personal.

Aloha,

Jeff

Well, It's partially my fault for posting an article on such a touchy topic. I let people say what they want but I do ask that everybosuy make an effort to play nice with the other kids in the sandbox that is my LJ.
I'm not going to go an diatribe and yell NO FLAMING! at anybody but I just don't think it's worth it. Everybody is forgiven, let's just move
forward.

Nothing is your fault at all......it's your journal. You can post whatever you want. It's my fault and it's the German girl's fault. I chose not to take the high road and I'm sorry for mucking up your journal.

Aloha,

Jeff
